Tim Clermont hit two big hands during the last two levels to bag the Flight C and overall tournament chip lead with 392,500.

On back-to-back hands (details here) Clermont cracked pocket Aces to bust one player for 65k, then eliminated a second opponent who was drawing dead against Clermont’s nut flush for another 150k.

“I’ve been running pretty terrible the last month,” said Clermont, “It’s nice to see things starting to turn around.”

After peaking at 430k, Clermont’s luck turned a bit when his pocket Kings were cracked by pocket Tens to lose 40k, dropping him to 390k,

Clermont has been a full time pro for several years and says he’s been profitable.  As for taking over the chip lead heading into Day 2 he adds, “I have a really good shot to win a lot of money, I’m not folding to cash.”
