The 2016 Little Slick Spring Poker Series concluded late Sunday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tampa. With 11 starting flights, the event played out over the course of a week and saw local grinder Brandon Byars walk with its top spot and $30,422.

The Little Slick boasted a $150 buy-in and a $150,000 guarantee. The six-figure target proved to be a formality as it was edged out during Friday’s Flight J and obliterated during Saturdays 452-entry Flight K. In all, the tournament saw a field of 1,931 generate a prize pool of $231,720.

Remaining players returned for Day 2 Sunday at 11 a.m. and the tournament played out in a fury finishing less than 12 hours later after a four-way chop. While Byars left the top dog, Rafael Marcondes Reis finished 2nd ($27,000), Bryan Maguire 3rd ($24,000) and James Gavin 4th ($20,000).

Byars is 36 years old and resides in Tampa. The victory marks his eighth career cash and more than doubles his lifetime earnings
