Event 4: Shawn Platt Notches Omaha 8 Title

Below are the final results from Event 4 of the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Poker Classic, a one-day $300 buy-in Omaha 8 tournament that concluded Monday, February 25th

Shawn Platt

The first non-hold’em game on the Tampa Poker Classic produced a great turnout, as expected when Tampa sees an Omaha game. The $300 Omaha 8 game attracted a big 71-entry field and Shawn Pratt earned his first title after the dust settled.

The tournament produced a $17,750 prize pool and the last eight players would make some money. That meant the ten final table players still had some work to do. Michael Steckler and Greg Masterson tried their best with very short stacks, made the final table, but fell short in ninth and tenth places.

Pratt was second in chips to start the table behind only Michael Dreese. The chip leader could not turn his advantage into a title, dropping in fourth place.

Platt ended his Monday night with an Omaha 8 win for $5,643. This is Platt’s second-biggest score behind a third-place payout in the $150 event during the 2017 Summer Little Slick Series.

Anthony Dianaty

Flight B of Event 3 reached 52 entries after the first break to match the number they had in Flight A. That puts the tournament past the midpoint to reaching the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool and it should easily reach it tomorrow.

Several top players remain in the game including Anthony Dianaty fresh off his runner-up finish in last night’s Event 2. Also grinding we have Wally Maddah, Anthony Astarita, Karl Manouchakian, Hunter Cichy, and Erik Christensen.

This will bring our Tampa Poker Classic coverage to an end for the evening. We will return tomorrow morning with all the action from Flights C and D of Event 3 along with chip counts from Flight B and a recap of the Omaha 8 final table.
