The 2016 WPTDeepStacks-Tampa series ran June 9-20 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The 12-day festival was headlined by $570/$200K and $350/$100K prelims as well as a $1,100/$300K Main Event.
The series headliner, the Main Event drew 538 entries generating a prize of $527,240. Following three starting flights, a play-down day and a live streamed final table, Anthony Astarita of Flemington, N.J. laid claim to the tournament’s $130,541 top prize.
2016 WPTDeepStacks-Tampa winners:
- Event 1 ($570 Deep Stack): Claudemir Osorio defeated 698 entries for $36,620
- Event 2 ($250 Turbo): Paul Neessen defeated 163 entries for $6,001
- Event 3 ($350 Deep Stack): Karl Manouchakian defeated 495 entries for $24,140
- Event 4 ($1,100 Main Event): Anthony Astarita defeated 538 entries for $130,541
- Event 5 ($250 Turbo): Chris DiBari defeated 142 entries for $6,934
Impressively, Astarita’s Main Event victory wasn’t his only cash of the series. He finished 55th in Event 1 and 17th in Event 2 narrowly missing Series Champion honors. That title went to Karl Manouchakian who owned the prelims finish runner up in Event 1 and winning Event 3.
