Blinds: 8k/16k/2k ante

After doubling up once to breathe a little life into his stack, David Tuthill opened first to act from late position to 75K and was re-raised all in by Stephen Diamantas. Tuthill made the call and showed pocket 7’s. He would be racing against Stephen and his KsQh. The race was over quickly as a King flopped and the pair of Kings would improve to two pair on the river for Stephen to send his friend to the rail in 9th place.

Championship Event: Sponaugle Nearly Triples, Cripples Tuthill In Process

$1,500 + $100 + $50 No Limit Hold’em Championship Event (Re-Entry)
Blinds: 8k/16k/2k ante

From almost out, Ryan Sponaugle has moved up towards the top of the leader board after taking down a huge three way pot against David Tuthill and Cord Garcia. The action started with Tuthill opening to 33K and getting three callers in Steve Diamantas, Cord Garcia, and Sponaugle.

The flop came Qc6h4h and it was checked around. The turn was the Js and Sponaugle led out for 50K after Garcia checked and was called by Tuthill. Diamantas folded and Garcia check raised to 115K. Sponaugle contemplated what to do, his eyes darting back and forth between Garcia, Tuthill, and the board. Finally he made the call for 65K more. After confirming the amount, Tuthill also called. The river was the 2h and Garcia quickly checked. Ryan counted out his stack and then announced that he was all in. After getting a count of 174K, Tuthill called. Garcia quickly folded, saying he had A-Q. Sponaugle turned over Ah3h for the nut flush causing Tuthill to toss his cards in disgust into the center before pulling them back and showing the table that he had KhQh for the 2nd nut flush. Tuthill and Garcia gave Ryan some grief about his play, but Ryan just shrugged as he stacked the chips.

Sponaugle is over 850K after the hand while Tuthill is right at the 100K mark.

Korfonta held KsJh. The turn was the 8h giving Dowda an open ended straight draw to go with his flush draw. The river did not hit any of the draws though as it was the 3h.
