With 677 entries in the game so far and only 81 more needed, they will get there in a hurry this afternoon and some huge fields expected this weekend.

Flight E will play down to the last 12.5% and survivors will bag their chips for a Day 2 return on Sunday at 11 am in the money.

Registration closed for Flight D of SPS Event 1 with 176 entries taking the combined total for the tournament up to 677 with three more flights to go. They’ve put $223K toward the $250,000 guarantee and that mark will be hit early tomorrow.

Flight D will continue until 22 players remain and survivors will return on Sunday at 11 am for Day 2 in the money. Players must bag chips to cash in the tournament.

After a long, slow parade to the bubble, the final 22 players were set to advance to Day 2 on Sunday with Thomas Kornechuk leading so far after three flights.

He put 845,000 in his bag for the overall chip lead with four more flights to go. We will post the complete chip count list as soon as it is available.

Flight C pumped the breaks after the last brake, slowing down at still at four tables when the other two flights were bagging chips. At this pace, they might see another break against the odds.

Flight C players were sent on what should be there last break with 38 players remaining and 22 set to book a seat for Day 2 on Sunday.

We had no clear cut leader two hours ago during the break but Thomas Kornechuk made a move. He sits alone, way at the top, with 432,000 and a handful over 200K for his closest competitors.

The opening event of the 2024 SPS series is on the cusp of its $250,000 guarantee and the $400 buy-in tournament will get really close tonight with Flight D starting at 6 pm. The tournament drew 501 entries over the first three flights to leave it only 257 away from the magic number.

It probably won’t hit tonight but we’ll see it get there tomorrow morning.

Flight C is flying right along with only 48 players remaining and still a lot of chips in play. They are putting those stacks to use and we’re looking at a money bubble around Level 14.

There’s still plenty of talent trying to make it through to Day 2 and we’ll see who can build a big bag.
