Event 1 Day 1C: Rodney Rodrigue Bursts the Bubble; Bags the Lead

$500 Mega Stack (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 20:  8,000/16,000 with a 16,000 ante
Players Remaining:  26 of 256

Rodney Rodrigue

Flight C came to an end when Rodney Rodrigue made an ace-high straight against a king-high straight and a lot of chips went in the middle on the river. It was good enough to put the remaining 26 players in the money and vault Rodrigue into the Flight C lead with 1,123,000.

He will return with the second biggest stack on Day 2 behind Julio Delgado’s 1,300,000. Day 2 will get underway on Sunday at noon with all 52 returning players in the money.

We will post the official payout information and seating assignments as soon as they are available.

Event 1 Day 1C: Jerry Silva Continues to Lead

$500 Mega Stack (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 17:  4,000/8,000 with a 8,000 ante
Players Remaining:  42 of 256

Boris Cox

The slowdown came around and the field is still a good ways away from the money bubble. We have 42 still in the game with 26 advancing but 30 big blind average means we should dodge another break.

Jerry Silva continues to lead the field with 591,000 followed by Pat Hoben with 539,000 and John Ryan with 517,000. Borix Cox (pictured above) is not in the leading group but his 352,000 gets him on the blog.

Event 1 Day 1C: Jerry Silva’s Turn at the Top

$500 Mega Stack (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 16:  3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 ante
Players Remaining:  44 of 256

Jerry Silva

Jerry Silva is quietly having a big evening in the corner of the poker room. With barely a bustle, he’s up to a devilish 666,000 and leading the way. Silva recently added to his stack when he took an opponent to Valuetown with his flopped set of sevens against aces up.

There’s still a bit of work to be done today but if he doesn’t gain or lose a single chip, he would start Day 2 in the top five already.

Event 1 Day 1C: John Ryan and Pat Hoben Up Big

$500 Mega Stack (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 14:  2,000/4,000 with a 4,000 ante
Players Remaining:  64 of 256

John Ryan

We have two new big stacks in the room and they are running away from rest. John Ryan was over 300K at the last break but now leads the way with 497,000.

Pat Hoben is not far behind with 479,000 as everyone tries to catch them and make Day 2.

Event 1 Day 1C: William Burns Leads After Break

$500 Mega Stack (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 13:  1,500/3,000 with a 3,000 ante
Players Remaining:  79 of 256

William Burns

The penultimate break is complete and cards are back in the air for the final stages of Flight C. We have 79 players remaining and working their way down to the last 26 to set the table for Day 2 tomorrow.

We found a new leader in the field; William Burns is up to 322,500 and looking good for a deep run. Don’t feel too bad for our former leader because Joe McCray is doing just fine with 319,500 in second.

Event 1 Day 1C: Familiar Faces in Contention

$500 Mega Stack (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 12:  1,200/2,400 with a 2,400 ante
Players Remaining:  96 of 256

Nicole Diaz

Flight C dropped under 100 players remaining before the third break and they are moving right along. We found some familiar faces still in contention including Nicole Diaz, Jeff Morzella, Wally Maddah, Andra Zachow, and Karl Manouchakian.

They will play out this level and take another break for a breather.

Jeff Morzella

Event 1 Day 1C: Field Down; Tony March Up

$500 Mega Stack (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 11:  1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 ante
Players Remaining:  112 of 256

Tony March

The field seems to be shrinking faster this afternoon than the previous two flights. There are football games to watch or maybe some playoff baseball.

That means we’re seeing some stacks grow and Tony March is now up among the leaders. The 2019 Winter Poker Open champ is up to 216,900 as we hit the midpoint of the day.

Event 1 Day 1C: Joe McCray Stacked Up

$500 Mega Stack (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 10:  800/1,600 with a 1,600 ante
Players Remaining:  152 of 256

Joe McCray

A quick walk among the tables during the second break and it looks like Joe McCray has the biggest stack after eight levels. Certainly the tallest.

He is up to 189,700 but still aways to go if he wants to catch overall chip leader Julio Delgado who bagged nearly one million chips last night.
