Mitch Mitchell

In a three-way pot with the board reading Kh7h3c4s, Mitch Mitchell and another opponent checked and the cutoff player bet 3,000. Mitchell called, the second player dropped out, and the river came Ts.

Mitchell checked from the big blind and the cutoff bet 6,000. After thinking it through, Mitchell called and the cutoff tabled ace-high Ah5h. Mitchell quickly flipped up Kc6c for top pair to take the pot.

Mitch Mitchell – 35,575

Marvin “Duckman” Karlins (right) with Wally Maddah (left)

We heard the duck call, so we knew something was up at Marvin “Duckman” Karlins table. He opened to 3,500 from middle position and the button player moved all in for 12,100. Karlins had to call because he was holding his namesake hand.

Karlins: 2d2h
Button: AsKs

It was a race and Karlins flopped a set and it held to give him the pot while sending his opponent out.

Then he blew his traditional duck call.

Marvin “Duckman” Karlins – 63,200

Wyatt Glyn-Williams

With the board reading Kd9h2hQh, Wyatt Glyn-Williams bet 1,300 and Michael Newman raised to 15,000. That was enough to put Glyn-Williams all in and he called for his last 11,875.

Glyn-Williams: KhKc
Newman: JcTc

Newman made his open-ended straight draw on the turn and was ahead of Glyn-Williams’ flopped top set of kings. Newman needed to avoid a paired board but the Qd river improved Glyn-Williams to a full house to double up.

Newman is here trying to make up ground in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year race and this is a small set back.

Wyatt Glyn-Williams – 28,400
Michael Newman – 23,575

Level 3: 75/150
Flight C Entries: 145 (Total Entries: 490)

We didn’t see when the chips went in the middle at Table 5 but we heard when the matter was settled. Austin L, wishing to remain mostly anonymous at this point, was all in for 25,525 and Robert Ortiz had him at risk.

Austin: TdTs
Ortiz: 8c8h

Austin was in great shape for a double starting stack and nothing happened on the 9d4h3s flop. Ortiz turned a two-out 8d for the set and potential bad bead but Austin returned the favor on the Tc river to take the pot.

Austin L – 52,000
Robert Ortiz – 12,000

Nathan Papp earned that honor after a first and second place finish in two Immokalee Main Events including a win in the WPTDeepStacks series in September of 2016. His winner package included a seat in ten different Seminole Hard Rock Poker Main Events/Championships and this is the ninth. Papp will wrap up in his POY tour in August during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.

Marie Harrell

The rest of the poker room is slowing waking as the cash tables begin to fill but the tournament side has already filled most of their tables. We still have a bit to go before the next big number but we’re getting there as we move into the afternoon hours.

Marie Harrell made her return to the Main Event after a tough run in the opening flight. She fell short of a Day 2 bag and back trying to make her way to her second WPTDeepStacks final table.

Ory Hen

We had 72 entries at the start of the day and more than 100 before the first half hour was complete. We are watching and waiting for entry number 268 to double up the $300,000 Guarantee into a $600,000 prize pool.

Ory Hen is firing another round trying to make it through to Day 2. The multiple SHRP champ is also a former Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year. Hen had a great run in 2015 to top the leaderboard and add to his South Florida poker legend.
