Event 8: John Canawati Doubles Through Frank Weigel

It was a final table race and Canawati needed to improve his big slick to double up. Weigel faded the 6d5s2s flop, Canawati missed the 3d turn but added a gutshot wheel draw. The Ad river was good news for Canawati and he doubled into the lead.

The turn was 2c, Naumann checked, Weigel bet 50,000 and Naumann called again. The river was 8h, Naumann checked, and Weigel moved all in.

With it three ways to the 9h8s3d flop, Jacob Naumann checked from the small blind and Frank Weigel bet 30,000 from the big. Karl Manouchakian raised to 80,000 to get a fold from Naumann and call from Weigel. The turn came 6s and Weigel immediately moved all in for 327,000.

Manouchakian thought for two minutes, cut out some chips, and called with the bigger stack.

Manouchakian was ahead with his paired nine and second nut flush redraw. Weigel had seven outs to double up and the Qh on the river was one of them.
