We are warming up the players with some bigger buy-in tournaments as we near the Pinktober Poker Open Championship and Event 8 has a nice $1,100 buy-in with a $50,000 guarantee. Frank Weigel took the lead late in the day and held on to take the title for $25,000 and the seat into the PPO Championship.
The tournament drew 94 entries to create a prize pool worth $91,180 and the last 12 players made the money. They burst the bubble before the dinner break and quickly formed the final table. Weigel began the final table with the chip lead, lost it briefly, but moved back on top as players dropped.
After Clyde Maliauka was eliminated in third place, Weigel and runner-up John Canawati made a deal to end the tournament. Canawati earned $18,640 for his runner-up finish while Weigel took home an even $25K plus the added PPO Championship seat.
