Event 5: Claudemir Climbing

Claudemir opened for 400k utg, then Jonathan Marlow 3-bet to 900k.  Claudemir shoved for 3.91 million on top and after some thought, Jonathan folded.  His stack dropped to about 4.4 million.

Claudemir is back up over 6 million.

On the turn with a board of A 8 5 6, Claudemir Osorio (button) bet 600k and Gil George (utg) shoved.  Claudemir snapped, showing pocket 5s for bottom set.

Gil showed pocket Aces for top set.  River was a 4 and changed nothing.  Gil more than doubled up to nearly 4 million.  Claudemir’s stack dropped to about 4.6 million.

Gil George has been all-in a couple of times without getting called and has built his stack back up to about 10 big blinds.

Claudemir Osorio opened for 325k utg and Mike Dimitry called from the small blind.  On the flop of Td7c3h Mike checked, Claudemir bet 350k, Mike raised to 900k and Claudemir called.

Turn was the 9s and Mike checked.  Claudemire bet 1 million.  Mike tanked for a bit, then folded.  Claudemir showed pocket Tens for top set.  Mike wanted to rabbit-hunt the stub (not allowed!) so apparently he had some sort of draw.

And so the chips continue to shift around the felt.

Claudemir Osorio opened for 310k and got a call from Mike Dimitry in the big blind.  The flop came 9s3s3c and Mike checked.  Claudemir bet 325k and Mike called.  Turn was the Ts and again Mike checked.  Claudemir bet 400k and Mike called.

River was the Kd and Mike led out for 725k.  After some thought, Claudemir called, showing Th9h for two pair.  Mike rolled over KxTx for two better pair to take the pot.  He chipped up to about 5.5 million while Claudemir’s stack dropped to about 4.6 million.

On the last hand of the level, Thuy ‘Cindy’ Beltran shoved utg for 820k and got called by Mike Dimitry on the button.  Cindy’s Ah5h needed help against Mike’s 9d9c.

The flop came Ks7h3s and changed nothing.  When the 8h came on the turn, Thuy got some hope with a flush draw, but the river was the 3c and no help to her.

Thuy Bletran busted out in 5th place, earning $15,820.  Now that the last woman is gone, it’s all testosterone from now on.

Gil George opened for 250k from the cutoff and Claudemir Osorio shoved for 3.24 million from the button.  Gil called, showing AK offsuit.  Claudemir was dominated with AJ.

Then the board came 9 6 2 J 6 and Claudemir paired his kicker to take the pot, doubling to about 6.7 million.  Gil dropped to about 800k.

Jin Chen shoved his last 340k from the cutoff and got called by Mike Dimitry in the big blind, who had AJ.  Jin’s JT was in trouble.   The board came A J x T x giving both two pair, but sending the pot to Mike.

Jin Chen finished in 6th place, earning $12,995.

Event 5: And the Oscar Goes To…

Claudemir Osorio had 1-million-chip-bet in front of him and Jonathan Marlow (bb) was in the tank.

“You’ve been pushing people around all day,” said Jonathan.  After a bit more time, he announced he was all-in.

Claudemir gave it a little thought as well, prompting Jonathan to add “that’s a good sign,”.

Eventually Claudemir released his hand, showing the Qs.  Jonathan showed pocket Aces, surprising players and spectators alike.

Nice acting job!  He chipped up to about 4.85 million while Claudemir’s stack dropped to about 3 million.

Gil George opened the pot and Norbert Kara shoved.  Gill called with pocket 8s and was way ahead of Norbert’s pocket 6s.

The board changed nothing and Gil took the pot, chipping up to about 4.5 million.

Nobert will not be repeating his Event 4 victory tonight, but back-to-back final tables is still quite and accomplishment.  He earned $10,311 for his 7th place finish.
