While the 96-player restart was more than chopped in half in order to reach the money, there’s still plenty of notables jockeying for position among the Event 3 field.

It all started when Ryan Ketterer peeked down at aces, got it in versus an at-risk opponent’s kings and held. The elimination left just 46 players remaining with only the top 45 finishing in the money. From there, it took four rounds of hand-for-hand for Event 1 final tablist Karl Manouchakian to finish the job.
In a heads-up pot, the board laid . Manouchakian was in the small blind and moved all in having his lone, early position opponent covered.
“I call,” the opponent said after some time in the tank.
“Quads,” Manouchakian calmly retorted flipping over .
The opponent exposed and hit the rail. With that, the remaining 45 players were in the money and one step closer to the tournament’s $37,657 top prize.

Players are now on their first 15-minute break of the day with the clock showing 51 remaining good for an average stack of 32 big blinds. Only the top 45 finish in the money with the tournament’s winner pocketing $37,657 and a $1,100 seat in tomorrow’s Main Event.

Chris Gaskin limped as did Marvin Karlins behind him. It folded to Seminole Hard Rock Poker Tampa ambassador Wally Maddah on the button and he shoved for 55,500. David Albertson called from the big blind and Gaskin and Karlins got out of the way.

According to the table, David Albertson raised, Filipp Khavin three-bet, Albertson shoved and Khavin called off. The pair was racing.

Joe Boccuzzi began the day toward the top of the counts and now appears to be topping them. After taking his seat to a stack of 215,000, Boccuzzi has nearly doubled up and holds over 405,000 with the money just over two tables away.

With a raise and a call behind her, Hyndi Khomutetsky was in the small blind. She three-bet making it 22,000 to go. The big blind folded as did the original raiser. It was on the caller in the cutoff and he matched the bet leaving himself about 40,000 behind.
Khomutetsky, almost instantly, moved all in. The cutoff called and it was time for showdown.

David O’Connell lead for 13,500 on a flop of . He was in a heads-up pot out of position against Cheri Beatty who began the day with 65,000. Her stack was now down to 49,000 and she put the remainder of it in the pot. O’Connell called and Beatty was in tough shape.

After bagging 39,500 chips in Fight B, Brand Byars exercised his option re-enter a subsequent flight and try to bag a better stack. He did just that in yesterday’s 6 p.m. installment as he turned his 20,000 starting chips into 186,500 good enough to put him 11th of the 96 returning players.
With that, Brandon Byars has earned himself a little more play in today’s restart.

It’s 11 a.m. in Tampa and Day 2 of Event 3 of the WPTDeepStacks series — a $350 deep stack tournament — is underway. The field topped out at 495 entries following two starting flights Monday and another two on Tuesday. Only 96 advanced to today’s play as Victor Hernandez bagged the chip lead of 306,500.
After Hernandez, Michael Gallo holds 268,000 and Michael Acalde 260,500. Others among the Day 2 crew include this year’s Little Slick champion Brandon Byars (186,500), Anthony Pellegrini (146,000), Marvin Karlins (112,000), Filipp Khavin (81,500) and Tampa regular Cheri Beatty (65,000).
Only the top 45 players finish in the money with a min-cash worth $737. From there, payouts escalate steadily before topping out in the form of a $37,657 first prize. On top of that, the winner earns a $1,100 Main Event seat, a plethora of points toward the Series Champion race and, of course, the patented Seminole Hard Rock guitar trophy.
