Jacob Ferro won the trophy in Event 19 to bring the night to a close here in Tampa, and he was awarded the WPT Trophy along with $94,490 in prize money. Here is what the tournament professional from Florida had to say after the victory.
“I’m actually very happy because I haven’t been able to close out lately the last two years. I’ve made some deep runs, second, third, ninth; I’ve been doing pretty well, I can’t complain, but it’s good to close it out. I’m probably just going to give the trophy to my Mom, she’ll be very happy with that,” said Ferro.
“I gotta play the Main tomorrow, so maybe I’ll buy the table some drinks or something, and we’ll just have a good time during the tournament. It was a fun final table, I had a bunch of the guys I knew, so it was fun and we were joking around the whole time. It’s serious stuff, but it was a fun final table. Anyone who plays with me knows that I’m just a fun time at the table, I like to have fun. It’s serious business in these tournaments, but it’s all about having a good time,” said Ferro when he was asked about his plans to celebrate and having fun at the tables.
“I live an hour north, and this place is like home to me, I play here all the time. All the people are great, but I want to give a shout out to the dealers, they are unbelievable, so shout out to them,” said Ferro when he was asked about his many experiences at the property here in Tampa.
