Hal Rotholz

After very little action at the final table, things blew up in one hand. It folded around to Thomas Elder on the button, he moved all in for 340,000 and Hal Rotholz called from the small blind.

“You don’t want me to wake up with a hand,” Maurice Hawkins said from the big blind.

He checked his cards and dropped in a barrel of 100K chips to cover Rotholz. He called for 750,000 total and a three-way all-in pot.

Hawkins: JcJs
Elder: 4h4d
Rotholz: 6c6h

Hawkins was in line for a double knockout but they all saw a four in the window of the AdQh4s flop. Elder took the lead for the main pot and stayed that way after the 7h turn and quad-giving 4c river. Elder tripled up, Hawkins earned a rebate from the healthy side pot, and Rotholz was eliminated in eighth place.

Thomas Elder – 1,070,000 (21 bb)
Maurice Hawkins – 2,700,000 (54 bb)
Hal Rotholz – Eliminated in 8th Place ($12,840)

But they are just relaxed and pushing around a few chips here and there.

McCray: 8c8d

McCray’s pair was in trouble, picked up a gutshot draw on the 9s7d5d flop, but could not improve on the 2d turn or 3s river. Astarita doubled, McCray was down to 40K, and was gone when the big blind came around to get him.

Palma had a big hand, Caldo picked up a spade draw on the Js7c2s flop but the Jh turn and 8h river sent the double to Palma.

On the next hand, Palma opened to 80,000 and Calderaro moved all in for 105,000 from the button. The blinds folded and Palma called.

Palma: KcJc
