Steve Trizis

The $1,100 One-Day Challenge headlined the 2021 Pinktober Poker Open and the tournament had a great turnout. We saw 111 entries join on a Saturday afternoon and it was Poker Room regular Steve Trizis taking top honors for his first career win.

The tournament more than doubled its $50,000 guarantee and they combined to create a prize pool worth $107,115. The last 12 spots were paid and the money bubble burst two seconds before the dinner break.

When they returned, it quickly played down to the final table where Trizis was among the short stacks. But two big hands were all it took; he took the lead while players dropped and had well more than half the chips in play with the last five players decided to divide up the remaining prize money.

Trizis earned $26,243 for his part of the deal with Amelio Amato, David Bees, Tim Geier, and Jerry Silva also getting an adjusted payout.

Congrats to Steve and thanks to all our players who came out.

Wasam Assaf

Amelio Amato limped under the gun, David Bees called from the hijack, and Wasim Assaf moved all in from the button. The blinds folded, Amato called at risk for 275,000, and Bees quickly got out of the way.

Amato: QdQs
Assaf: AhKs

Amato was ahead for the double and slammed the door with a set of queens on the Qc8s7c flop. The Ac turn and Tc river finished the board and Amato doubled.

Amelio Amato – 592,000 (49 bb)
Wasim Assaf – 126,000 (11 bb)

Assaf was down to 11 big blinds and got them in the middle against Steve Trizis.

Assaf: Qh9c
Trizis: AdJh

Assaf had two live cards for a possible double but nothing on the Ks2s2h3cAc board could save his tournament.

Steve Trizis – 1,450,000 (121 bb)
Wasam Assaf – Eliminated in 6th Place ($5,186)

Event 7: Mike Mosley – 7th Place ($4,058)

Trizis: Ac7s
Mosley: Jc5c

Mosley was drawing live but Trizis improved on the AdKh2s flop. The Tc turn gave Mosley a gutshot draw to stay alive but he blanked the 4d river to go out in seventh place.

Mike Mosley – Eliminated in 7th Place ($4,058)

Steve Triziske

Steve Trizis and Mike Mosley were heads up to a Ts7d4h flop. Trizis bet 25,000 and Mosley raised to 125,000. Tziris moved all in, Mosley thought for two minutes and called with the bigger stack.

Trizis: 4c4s
Mosley: QhTh

Trizis was way ahead with his set of fours against top pair and needed to dodge running hearts or some interesting combination. The 2d turn was safe and Mosley was drawing dead to the Qc river.

Just like that, it took two hands for Trizis to go from one of our short stacks to the chip lead.

Steve Trizis – 1,185,000 (99 bb)
Mike Mosley – 155,000 (13 bb)

Ryan Hogan open-shoved for 61,000 and the move made it all the way around to Mike Mosley in the big blind.

“Do I even need to look?” Mosley asked.

“I looked at one card,” Hogan responded.

Mosley called and Hogan was unhappy when he looked at his second card.

Hogan: Ah2h

David Bees – 416,000 (52 bb
Jerry Silva – 660,000 (83 bb)
