Ken O’Donnell

Event 5 was the mid-series tournament on the Pinktober Poker Open schedule and it had a very nice turnout. It attracted 125 entries for the $600 buy-in and Ken O’Donnell won it outright for more than $20,000.

The tournament easily surpassed its $50,000 guarantee and put $66,250 in the prize pool. We had 13 players advance to Day 2, all in the money, and they quickly played down to the final table.

O’Donnell was in the middle of the pack but quickly took charge along with the chips. Players continued to drop until he had a big lead heads-up with Daniel Kasper. With barely a blip, O’Donnell picked up every chip in the tournament and won the title along with $20,059.

Kasper was live but O’Donnell improved when he paired his ace on the AhKh6c flop. There was still hope for Kasper but the Ks turn and 7c river ended his tournament in second place. O’Donnell took the last chips of the tournament and picked up $20,059 for the win.

Most posts were going to Ken O’Donnell’s side of the table and Daniel Kasper made a move. He was all in for 370,000 and O’Donnell called with a chance to end the tournament.

Kasper: 8c5c
O’Donnell: Ac9d

Kasper had two live cards and paired his eight on the 8s3h2h flop. The 6d turn and Th river were safe for Kasper and he doubled up.

Yan Ting Jiang

Yan Ting Jiang completed her small blind and Ken O’Donnell raised to 125,000 from the big. Jiang moved all in and O’Donnell called with both having similar stacks.

O’Donnell: JhJd
Jiang: AcKs

A more traditional race than we saw earlier

“This would be a good flip to win,” O’Donnell said.

The dealer spread an all-low board with 8h7h5c3h4d board and the stacks were counted down. O’Donnell was the player at risk for 1,270,000 and doubled huge while Jiang was down to only 115,000.

She folded one hand then lost the rest of her stack to O’Donnell on the next to exit in third place.

Yan Ting Jiang – Eliminated in 3rd Place ($8,311)

Event 5: Jeff Trudeau Jr – 4th Place ($5,778)

Jeff Trudeau Jr

Two folds and Ken O’Donnell announced all in from the small blind. Jeff Trudeau Jr checked his cards and called at risk for about 340,000.

O’Donnell: Ks6h
Trudeau Jr: 4s4h

Not a traditional race but Trudeau Jr needed to fade two overs or an interesting board. Unfortunately for him, it was the second option that got there because O’Donnell made a ten-hight straight when the dealer spread Ts8c7h3s9s.

Ken O’Donnell – 1,850,000 (62 bb)
Jeff Trudeau Jr – Eliminated in 4th Place ($5,778)

Joseph Parrish

Ken O’Donnell opened from the button, Joseph Parrish three-bet shoved for about 415,000 from the small blind, and O’Donnell called.

O’Donnell: JdJc
Parrish: Ac8c

Parrish needed help to stay in the game, paired his eight on the QdQs8s flop but that was the best he could do after the 6d turn and Kd river.

Ken O’Donnell – 1,600,000 (53 bb)
Joseph Parrish – Eliminated in 5th Place ($4,173)

Event 5: Daniel Kasper Doubles Twice

$600 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 22:  15,000/25,000 with a 25,000 ante
Players Remaining:  5 of 125

Jeff Trudeau Jr opened to 50,000 from the button, Daniel Kasper moved all in for 180,000 from the small blind and Trudeau Jr called.

Kasper: Ks4s
Trudeau Jr: TcTs

Kasper needed to catch and found three spades on the Jd4c2s3s9s board for a double.

Two hands later, he was heads-up with Yan Ting Jiang with the flop reading Jd7s5d. Kasper bet 100,000 and Jiang raised to 200,000. Kasper moved all in for 315,000 total and Jiang called.

Jiang: Kc7c
Kasper: AcJs

Kasper was ahead with top pair jacks versus second pair sevens and held after the 6s turn and Ts river.

Kasper went from short stack to second stack in two hands.

Daniel Kasper – 945,000 (38 bb)
Jeff Trudeau Jr – 460,000 (18 bb)
Yan Ting Jiang – 650,000 (26 bb)

Steve Zhang was down to 115,000 and put his stack in the middle from the button to get a shrug/call from Ken O’Donnell in the big blind.

O’Donnell: Ks6h
Zhang: QsQh

Zhang found a big hand with his short stack but O’Donnell flopped trip sixes on the 6s6c4h board and turned a boat Kc turn. The 9d river finished the board and Zhang was eliminated in sixth place.

Ken O’Donnell – 915,000 (46 bb)
Steve Zhang – Eliminated in 6th Place ($3,135)
