Fernando Rodriguez limped from the button and called after Max Young raise to 450,000 from the big blind. The flop came Ah7h3h and Young bet 600,000. Rodriguez moved all in for 2,750,000 and Young called.

Rodriguez: 5h4h
Young: AdQs

Rodriguez was ahead with the flopped heart flush against top pair and pulled a huge double after the 4c turn and 4s river.

Fernando Rodriguez – 6,450,000 (65 bb)
Max Young – 8,500,000 (85 bb)

Edgardo Rosario and Darin Thompson were both riding out short stacks compared to the other three players and would need to take a short.

Rosario was the first to go. He moved all in for 450,000 after Max Young opened to 250,000 and Young called.

Rosario: JsJd
Young: Kh6h

Rosario was in great shape but Young flopped a king on the Ks6c5d flop. Rosario was not happy and the turn 2h did not change his mood. But the two-out Jc river got a fish pump from Rosario.

“That river just cost me 17 grand,” Thompson joked about the pay jump missed.

A few hands later, Young opened to 250,000 and Thompson moved all in for 825,000. Fernando Rodriguez thought about coming along but it was Young again trying for a knockout.

Thompson: AsKc
Young: 2c2d

It was a race and Thompson paired the KsTd6h flop to take the lead. The board finished with the 5c turn and Tc river to send Thompson his needed double.

“Don’t call it a comeback!” Thompson laugh-quoted LL Cool J after the win.

Max Young – 12,100,000 (121 bb)
Darin Thompson – 1,900,000 (19 bb)
Edgardo Rosario – 1,150,000 (12 bb)

Max Young opened to 175,000 from the button, Phil Hernz moved all in for 1,400,000 from the big blind and Young quickly called.

Young: AcKs
Hernz: KhQs

Hernz was in bad shape for a double up and found no luck on the Th8d5d7s9h to exit the Main Event in sixth place.

Max Young – 10,300,000 (137 bb)
Phil Hernz – Eliminated in 6th place ($45,605)

Level 28:  50,000/75,000 with a 75,000 ante
Players Remaining: 6 of 779

Most of the big action after the break was between Peter Walsworth and Fernando Rodriguez. The first hand saw them heads up to a QcQh8d flop. Rodriguez checked from the big blind and called after Walsworth bet 150,000.

Both players checked the Qs turn and Rodriguez bet 600,000 after the 2d river. Walsworth called, then mucked after Rodriguez showed Qd7c for quad queens.

Soon after, there were four limps to a Th4h2h flop. Max Young and Darin Thompson checked in the blinds, Rodriguez bet 175,000 and only Walsworth came along to the Ad turn. Rodriguez bet another 175,000, Walsworth raised to 550,000 and Rodriguez snap-called.

The river was Tc, Rodriguez checked, and Walsworth bet 1,100,000. Rodriguez called and Walsworth showed 4d4s for fours full of tens to get a muck from Rodriguez.

Peter Walsworth – 6,500,000 (87 bb)
Fernando Rodriguez – 2,950,000 (39 bb)

Romeo Mendoza

There was very little major action after Romeo Mendoza doubled and they played through most of Level 27 before there were more fireworks.

It began with a limp from Fernando Rodriguez in the hijack, a limp from Max Young on the button, a complete from Darin Thompson in the small blind, and check from Romeo Mendoza in the big. An innocent start.

The flop came Jh8d8s, Thompson and Mendoza checked in the blinds and Rodriguez bet 200,000. Young called on the button, Thompson folded, and Mendoza check-raised all in for 1,365,000. Rodriguez folded and Young called.

Young: QhJc
Mendoza: 8h7s

Mendoza was ahead with trip eights versus Young’s two pair jacks and eights. The Td turn gave Young a gutshot straight draw that got there on the 9h river and the unlucky knockout for Mendoza.

Max Young – 7,700,000 (128 bb)
Romeo Mendoza – Eliminated in 7th place ($37,890)

That was the last hand of the level and players grabbed a short break as the 5K chips came out of play.
