On the first hand of the bubble, Peter Vitantio three-bet shoved for 84,000 from the small blind after an 18,000 open from the player under the gun and he called. Then they waited for the other five tables to finish their action before hands were tabled.

With 49 players remaining and 48 getting paid, tournament staff paused the clock to begin play on the money bubble. They will play hand-for-hand until one player is eliminated with two minutes coming off the clock per hand.

The Main Event made it to the first break before reaching the money bubble. They only need to lose one more before going into hand-for-hand play.

Austin Buchanan continued to lead the way with 1,187,000 while Alex Rocha jumped up to second place with 915,000 after a big hand against Ken O’Donnell when his was good on the board.

Duff Charette is also moving up on the outer table with 910,000.

Blinds went up to 4,000/8,000 with an 8,000 big blind ante and the average stack is 287,000 (36 bb).

Day 2 of the Main Event is cruising along but there are those who did not make it that far. For them, and those who bust the Main, we have one last Winter Poker Open trophy tournament.

Event 7 will be a big one. It has a $480 buy-in with a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool and one-day format. They’ll start with 30,000 stacks and all levels last 30 minutes. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 11 at ~6:45 pm.

We will hit the highlights along the way as someone looks to take home a Guitar Trophy late this evening.

“Oh (expletive)!” Mark Manesh said after the hand.

With board complete and reading , Manesh check-raised all in for 76,000 after Alex Rocha bet 60,000.

Manesh probably thought he was good with for two pair, queens and fours, but Rocha flipped up for queens and nines. Manesh accepted his fate and left the Main Event while Rocha climbed to 522,000.

That left the field on a few eliminations from the money bubble.

It took nearly an hour to lose eight players to break the first table of the table today. Slower than expected but there is a lot of money on the line.

Terri-Anne Crawford had a good first level after taking her stack from 242,000 to start the day up to 510,000. Any other day, that would put her in contention for the lead but Austin Buchanan’s heater has continued on Day 2 who ran his already big stack up to 814,000.

With the flop reading , Brad Karns put his last 86,000 at risk and Nick Mann called.

There was always going to be a little spurt at the beginning of play today with short stacks trying to build higher. Two players hit the rail in the first few hands and more will follow.

Peter Kaemmerlen put his stack in the middle with and was racing against Adam Templeman’s . The board ran and he was an early exit.

While that was going on, Michael Moreno was also sent out from Table 32 and the rest are that much closer to the money.
