Tom Nguyen

The slowdown is back on with 40-minute levels giving them plenty of time to make their moves. We lost only one player in the last bit of play with former SHRP LHPO winner Oscar Lindo going out in 25th place.

Glynn Griffis grabbed the lead during bubble play and his stack has only expanded. He now sits with 840,000 for a huge advantage and Tom Nguyen currently sits in second with 550,000.

Level 19: 5,000/10,000 with a 10,000 ante

The blinds went up and we lost four players shortly after the bubble. Fred Paradis had the second biggest stack coming back but nothing went right today and he had to settle for a min-cash.

SHR Tampa poker regular Robert Cornette, WSOPC ring winner Jose Reyes, and SHRP champ Josias Santos were the first round of players to pick up some cash.

26th: Josias Santos – $1,116
27th: Robert Cornette – $1,116
28th: Jose Reyes – $980
29th: Fred Paradis – $980

Event 3: James Baune Eliminated by Tom Nguyen on the Bubble

$100,000 Guaranteed Structure | Payouts
Level 18: 4,000/8,000 with a 8,000 ante
Players Remaining: 29 of 287

James Baune

Unlike the previous action, the money bubble burst in a hurry. It almost did not even reach hand-for-hand when Herbert Woodbery was at risk and is aces held as they went to bubble play.

At the same table on the first hand, James Baune moved all in for 71,000 and Tom Nguyen had him covered in a race.

Nguyen: 6s6c
Baune: KhTs

Baune caught a big hand earlier and needed a repeat. The As7d5d flop changed nothing but the 6d turn left him drawing dead to the 3h river.

No other players hit the rail and Baune was eliminated on the money bubble.

Tom Nguyen – 441,000 (55 bb)
James Baune – Eliminated in 30th place

Event 3: Money Bubble

$570 Deepstack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed Structure | Payouts
Level 18: 4,000/8,000 with a 8,000 ante
Players Remaining: 30 of 287

It took longer than expected, most of Level 18, but Event 3 hit the money bubble with 30 remaining and 29 getting paid.

Tournament staff paused the clock and they will take two minutes off for each round of hand-for-hand until the bubble bursts.

Event 3: Glynn Griffis Leads After Break

$570 Deepstack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed Structure | Payouts
Level 18: 4,000/8,000 with a 8,000 ante
Players Remaining: 33 of 287

Glynn Griffis

Event 3 is back underway after the break and your new leader is Glynn Griffis. He came into the day with one of the bigger stacks but now he is the biggest with 544,000 coming back.

The tournament is only a handful of eliminations away from the money and we should get there before the next level.

Event 3: First Break

$570 Deepstack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed Structure | Payouts
Level 17: 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 ante
Players Remaining: 33 of 287

The first break beat the money bubble but not by much. The 33 remaining players are away from the table for 15 minutes while tournament staff pull the 500 denom chips out of play.

When they return, it should not take long to reach the money.

Event 3: Trey Harrell Moving Up Near Bubble

$570 Deepstack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed Structure | Payouts
Level 17: 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 ante
Players Remaining: 35 of 287

Trey Harrell

Event 3 is nearing the bubble with four tables in play, 35 players remaining, and 29 getting paid. They have about 30 minutes before the first break and it will be close which gets here first.

Trey Harrell had a small dip earlier in the day in a three-way pot but it was merely a blip on his Day 2 run so far. He sent some chips to Aaron Thivyanathan but those came back when Harrell sent him out. After starting Day 2 with less than 200K, he now sits with 320,000.

Event 3: Kevin Blewitt Eliminated by James Baune

$570 Deepstack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed Structure | Payouts
Level 16: 2,500/5,000 with a 5,000 ante
Players Remaining: 40 of 287

James Baune

Another table and another big three-way all-in pot. This time around it was Kevin Blewitt at risk for 41,500 with the best hand, just like Carlos Loving before him. James Baune was all in for 79,000 and Tom Nguyen had them both covered with his big stack.

Blewitt: 4s4d
Baune: AcQh
Nguyen: Ah6c

Blewitt asked the dealer to keep his fours good but the AdKhTc dropped his hand from best to third of three hands. The 5s turn and 8c river completed the board to send Blewitt out and push Baune over 200,000.

James Baune – 207,000 (41 bb)
Tom Nguyen – 305,000 (61 bb)
Kevin Blewitt – Eliminated

Event 3: Day 2 Underway

$570 Deepstack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed Structure | Payouts
Level 15: 2,000/4,000 with a 4,000 ante
Players Remaining: 56 of 287

With no delay, players took their seats and Tournament Director Yi Li announced “shuffle up and deal” to get Day 2 underway.

Blinds are at 2,000/4,000 with a 4,000 big blind ante and levels increase to 40 minutes for the duration of the tournament.

The first order of business will be the money bubble with 29 of the 56 returners getting paid. Looking at the math, they should be near the bubble as they approach the first break.

Event 3: Hanish Patel Leads Day 2 Restart

$570 Deepstack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed Structure | Payouts
Level 15: 2,000/4,000 with a 4,000 ante
Players Remaining: 56 of 287

Hanish Patel

Event 3 was a good multi-day tournament to kick off the new week and the four starting flights put 287 entries into the $570 game. It barely blinked at the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool and it ended up at $143,500 by the time registration closed.

Of those 287 entries, only 56 booked their seat into Day 2. Hanish Patel bagged the overall chip lead late in Flight D to barely beat out Flight A leader Fred Paradis. There are plenty of interesting players still in the hunt including Justin Zaki, Bryce McVay, Josias Santos, Derek Bowers, Herbert Woodbery, Jose Reyes, Hunter Cichy, and 2017 WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event champ Anthony Astarita.

The last 29 players will earn a piece of the prize pool and they begin playing down once action gets underway at noon.

Top ten returning stacks:

  1. Hanish Patel – 340,000 (85 bb)
  2. Fred Paradis – 338,500 (85 bb)
  3. Glynn Griffis – 310,000 (78 bb)
  4. Tom Nguyen – 257,500 (64 bb)
  5. Guillaume Starek – 220,000 (55 bb)
  6. Josias Santos – 209,000 (52 bb)
  7. Duong Dieu – 208,000 (52 bb)
  8. Derek Bowers – 207,500 (52 bb)
  9. William Harrell – 194,500 (49 bb)
  10. Herbert Woodbery – 190,000 (48 bb)
