Sean Hampson

It was the fourth hand of hand-for-hand play when Sean Hampson tangoed with Nashaat Antonious. Antonious was in early position and Hampson was in middle. Deducing the preflop action, Antonious opened with a raise and Hampson three-bet to 52,000. It folded back to Antonious. He called and the pair saw a flop.

Flop: 9s8h2d – Antonious checked. Hampson C-bet 52,000. Antonious called.

Turn: 9s8h2d3s – Antonious changed gears, leading for an all-in bet worth about 120,000. Hampson — who only had 60,000 — thought for a couple minutes.

Sean Hampson (Seat 1) stands in thought while Nashat Antonious (Seat 9) looks on

Hampson called and saw some good news.

Hampson: JsJc for an overpair
Antonious: AdQh for ace-queen high

Antonious was caught in a bluff for most of his stack. Hampson needed to fade six outs once.

River: 9s8h2d3sAs

It was the classic poker cliche — an ace on the river. Antonious spiked one of six outs and ended Hampson’s hopes of a cash. Hampson was officially the bubble boy and Antonious took the pot.

Nashaat Antonious

With 61 players remaining, all were assured a score of at least $3,289. The winner’s share is $180,205 and a guitar trophy.

Nashaat Antonious – 560,000
Sean Hampson – Eliminated

Nagji: ThTd
Sepiol: AhJs

Runout: 7s6d5c9dQh

Sepiol never improved and he was eliminated just a couple spots shy of the money.

Mark Wiser’s aces bust Hunter Cichy’s jacks all-in preflop

Level 17 is freshly underway and it comes on the heels of an active Level 16. On the last hand of that level, Hunter Cichy had 44,000 in the middle pre and Mark “Bud” Wiser raised all-in for 206,000 more. Cichy thought for a few moments, then called.

Wiser: AcAd
Cichy: JsJh

Runout: As8c2cTdAh

Wiser added insult to injury improving to quads. The dealer broke down the stacks and it was revealed Cichy was slightly covered. He hit the rail while Wiser stacked a pile.

Others unable to fade the first level bustouts were Cheri Beatty and Alexander Beece.

Rob Manjura (Seat 1) turns over quads on the river

Rob Manjura and Duff Charette got 75,000 in the middle on an As9s7s7h board. Manjura was out of position and jammed his last 86,000 just as the Qc river hit the board. Charette called and Manjura tabled 7c7d for quads. Charette shipped the double across the table and was left with about 10,000 chips.

Rob Manjura – 400,000
