Winter Poker Open Day 2 Updates Conclude

Friday’s Winter Poker Open play has come to a close at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa. Chip counts through Flight D of the $570 opener will be posted Saturday around 10:30am and tournament updates will resume at 11am with Flight E.

Here’s a look at Saturday’s complete schedule:

Charles Davis

Sean Hampson limped the button and Charles Davis raised the big blind. It was back on Hampson and he potted to 108,000. Davis called and the pair saw a flop of Qd8s7d. Davis lead for pot — 216,000. Hampson re-potted for a total of 864,000. Davis announced “call” and there was a little confusion as the pair thought he was all-in. In fact, Davis had a few chips left.

The turn was the 5d and Davis completed the formality by open-shoving for his last roughly 50,000. Hampson called.

Davis spiked two pair to take the lead from Hampson and win the pot. Hampson was left with less than 10,000 chips and busted in second place the very next hand.

Ryan Carter opened the button. Sean Hampson folded the small blind and Charles Davis called from the big. The flop fell 8h6s6h. Davis checked. Carter had about 215,000 behind and he bet 65,000 of it. Davis potted.

Davis earned the pot with kings up and Carter was eliminated in third place.

Mehdi Belhassan

Mehdi Belhassan was under the gun and got his last 33,000 in the middle preflop. Charles Davis folded the button while Ryan Carter and Sean Hampson called from the blinds.

Carter and Hampson checked down an Ac6d4h9d8d runout. The hands were turned up and it was Carter’s Tc7dXxXx straight that took down the pot. Belhassan, who held Ah9sXxXx for two pair, was no good and busted in fourth place.

Monir Maher

With a stack of 220,000, Monir Maher is the chip leader following the last break of the night in Flight D of the $570. The clock shows 31 players remaining and Brandon Byars and Carlos Loving are among the other standouts still in.

Players are set to log two more levels of action before they bag and tag. Up-to-date chip counts from all flights will be posted in the morning around 10:30am.

Short stack Richard Horswell just got all-in on the flop with top pair. Ryan Carter called with an ace-high flush draw. The turn was a blank, but the river hit Carter’s draw. Horswell was left second best and hit the rail in sixth place for $1,502.
