Championship: Paul Balzano – 18th Place ($5,795)

$1,650 WPO Championship (Re-Entry)
Level 23: 10,000/20,000 with a 3,000 ante
Players Remaining: 17 of 489

Paul Balzano

Paul Balzano was all-in preflop for about 190,000 and at risk against chip leader Moe Affaneh.

Affaneh: QsQh
Balzano: AsTd

The flop smacked Affaneh coming KsQcQd. All the table could do was let out a collective chuckle as Affaneh had drawn quads and had Balzano dead.

The turn was the 6s and river the Th making it official. Balzano, who finished fourth in last year’s Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year race, was eliminated. Affaneh’s stack, meanwhile, flirted with 2,000,000.

Moe Affaneh – 1,995,000 (99 bb)
Paul Balzano – Eliminated in 18th place ($5,795)

Championship: Leecy Eliminates Bader 19th to Send it to Two Tables

Matthew Leecy

Brett Bader just got about 185,000 in before the flop with AdTc against the QsQh of Matthew Leecy. The runout paired Bader’s 10, but nothing more. Leecy’s queens were good and Bader was eliminated in 19th place.

With the bustout, tournament staff redrew the field to the final two tables.

Matthew Leecy – 1,035,000 (51 bb)

Players Remaining: 21 of 489

Cheri Beatty

Josh Lowing open-shoved the small blind and Seminole Hard Rock Tampa regular Cheri Beatty called off about 100,000 in the big blind. Lowing held the advantage in chip counts and hand strength claiming AdJs to Beatty’s Kc7h.

An AhTd6d flop elicited a forfeit from Beatty who began to gather her things. The turn 9c and river Ac only improved Lowing and Beatty was eliminated in 22nd place.

The deep run caps off a solid Winter Poker Open for Beatty who kicked it off with a fourth-place finish in the Ladies Event about two weeks ago.

Josh Lowing – 1,375,000 (85 bb)
Cheri Beatty – Eliminated in 22nd place ($4,548)

Allen Kessler

Poker favorite Allen “Chainsaw” Kessler moved all-in for 93,000 and Shawn Barnett called from the small blind.

Barnett: QhQc
Kessler: JhJd

Kessler was in line for a double up but the Jc5h3h flop had him in trouble. The 2c turn changed nothing and the Vegas pro was eliminated after the 6d river.

Shawn Barnett – 800,000 (50 bb)
Allen Kessler – Eliminated 23rd place ($4,548)

Championship: Kevin Chan – 24th Place ($4,548)

$1,650 WPO Championship (Re-Entry)

Kevin Chan

Peter Walsworth opened to 35,000 from early position and Kevin Chan three-bet all-in for 250,000 from the cutoff. After a minute to think about it, Matthew Leecy moved in as well for 364,000. Walsworth thought about calling but released.

Leecy: AsAd
Chan: 7h7d

Chan was dominated and nothing changed on the board the change his fate. The former big stack was sent out in 24th place while Leecy moved up to 790,000.

Matthew Leecy – 790,000 (49 bb)
Kevin Chan – Eliminated in 24th place ($4,548)
