Championship Day 1A: Kicking off the Big Game

All the preliminaries are in the books and it’s time to get down to the business of the 2024 Tampa Poker Classic Championship. The $1m700 buy-in tournament gets underway with Flight A at 11 am with another flight on Friday and Saturday. It has a $300,000 guarantee and a deep, slow structure.

Players start with 40,000 in their stacks and all levels last 40 minutes until Day 3. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 10 at 5:45 pm. Flight A will continue until 12.5% of the field remains and survivors will return on Sunday at noon for Day 2.

The $700 Deep Stack Challenge was a great warmup for the TPC Championship with a similar structure and lots of talent in the game. The tournament drew 232 entries to nearly triple the $50,000 guarantee and Ashraf Chehata defeated Matthew Leecy heads-up for the title.

After a long day at the tables, WSOPC ring winner Ashraf Chehata defeated former Tampa champ Matthew Leecy heads-up for the outright win in TPC Event 4. Leecy earned $20,960 for his runner-up result while Chehata took home $31,600 plus the TPC trophy.
