The second event of the series got cards in the air at 7PM as 44 players showed up for the $210 Pot Limit Omaha event.

After 16 levels of play, 44 players had been slimmed down to just two as soon as Jim Hagan was eliminated in third place.

The final two players took two completely different routes to their heads-up chop. Pete Walsworth was one of the chip leaders throughout most of the tournament and used his chip stack to leverage his opponents.

Christy Pham, on the other hand, was short most of the tournament and came to final table as one of the shortest stacks.

“This is the first time I’ve ever played PLO,” said Pham at the conclusion of the event with a smile. “I only usually play $2-$5 No Limit (cash games) and other tournaments.”

Pham was able to score two key double ups. One during the final two tables where she flopped two pair and got all in on the flop against the nut straight. Running diamonds came to give her the nut flush to double up. The second came when she flopped top set and got all in on the turn against the nut straight. She was able to pair the board on the river to stay alive.

While she hit two fortunate river cards to stay alive earlier in the tournament, Pham held pocket aces during their final all in flip for the Main Event voucher and had them cracked by Walsworth when he made three tens on the turn.

Pete Walsworth and Christy Pham chopped the tournament and each took home $2,502 cash when they got to heads-up play. They decided to go all in blind and flip for the $1,650 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Spring Poker Open Championship event voucher that is added and awarded to the winner of the tournament. Walsworth won the flip and the Championship entry.

Barbara Cardin raised under the gun, Tim Pettus 3-bet, then Nate Kaplan shoved.  Barbara and Tim got all their chips in the middle and the hands were tabled:

The board changed nothing and Nate, who began the day second in chips, was eliminated in 20th place, earning $1,444.  Barbara and Tim chopped up his chips.

Earl Pickens shoved from the hijack and John Pappas called from the small blind.  Earl’s pocket Aces were ahead of John’s pocket Jacks.  The board ran out 9 9 2 8 4 and Earl doubled up to ~95k.  John was left with less than 10k.

A couple of hands later, John was all-in for his last ~7k with against Chris Williams in the big blind, who had .  The flop was  .  Then the came on the turn, giving Chris a pair and the lead.  River was the and John back-doored a flush to take the pot and survive.

Ryan Sponaugle doubled up with pocket Jacks against Natasha Barbour Raimon’s AK.  He’s up to 171k.  Natasha dropped to ~160k.

Paul Neeson shoved with pocket 2s and got an all-in call from William Welch with AQ.  The board bricked out J 7 3 6 K and the ducks were good for Paul.

William Welch was eliminated in 25th place, becoming today’s bubble-boy.  The remaining players are in the money and guaranteed to earn at least $1,033.

$210 Buy-In Classic Rockers 50+ Re-Entry

Today’s second tournament is the $210 Buy-In Classic Rockers 50+ No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry event.  The classics began with 10,000 chips and all levels are 30 minutes long.

Late registration and re-entry are available until the start of level 5 (about 2:15pm).  This is a one-day event, so they will play until a winner is determined.  In addition to the prize money, the winner will receive a $1,650 seat in the Championship Event next week.

On the last hand of the level, Konstantinos ‘Roamin Gnome’ Pantaridis doubled up through Joel Wadsworth with pocket Kings.

Ryan Sponaugle has taken his short-stack up from 25,500 at the start of the day to 92,500 in just two levels.  He’s predicting a 4th place finish and then a win in the Main Event.  He finished 2nd in the Main Event here back in December 2013 ($72,240).

The board fell and Ron’s kicker was good for a double-up.  Tom was left short-stacked and busted out soon after.
