Tim Burt

Players are back in their seats following the dinner break and we await the accounting from the big brains to give us the official Flight B numbers. The $300,000 guaranteed prize pool has been bypassed and we’ll see how close we get to $400,000 with one flight to go.

Sitting at the front of the room we found Tim Burt, another player here on a freeroll thanks to the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Player of the Year race. The three-time WSOP Circuit winner’s most recent big SHRP score came with a third place finish in the 2016 SHRPO Championship.

Championship: Eskandar Scores Big Going to Dinner

$1,650 WPO Championship (Re-Entry)
End of Level 9: 400/800 with a 75 ante
Entries: 108

Patrick Eskandar

While most of the field was walking out the door for their dinner break, there was a hand still brewing in the middle of the room. Paul Stanechewski and Evan Teitelbaum were all-in and waiting on Patrick Eskandar to make a decision with the board reading KsTd3s2d.

Apparently, Teitelbaum had already flashed the Qs accidentally and Eskandar still called with his flush draw/wheel draw As4s. Stanechewski was ahead with bottom set 2h2s and Teitelbaum’s flush draw with Qs9s was useless. He was stuck looking for one of the non-spade jacks for a straight and Stanechewski needed to dodge Eskandar’s draws to triple up.

The 5s binked the river to complete Eskandar’s flush (and less wheel) to send Stanechewski out and Teitelbaum down.

Patrick Eskandar – 114,000 (143 bb)
Evan Teitelbaum – 40,000 (50 bb)
Paul Stanechewski – Eliminated

Zo Karim

Poker pro Zo Karim is among the field today and he’s had a little success in SHRP events. He’s freerolling today’s entry courtesy of a 20th place finish in the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Player of the Year race.

Among his nearly $1.5 million in career earnings, Karim final tabled this summer’s Big 4 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Championship and finished fifth in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Event 5.

Championship: Last Year’s 7th-Place Finisher, Carl Carodenuto

$1,650 WPO Championship (Re-Entry)
Level 9: 400/800 with a 100 ante
Entries: 107

Carl Carodenuto

Carl Carodenuto placed seventh in this very event last year earning $25,000 in the process. He’s back and actively in search of another deep run. He recently three-bet pre, then C-bet big on the flop to take a pot without contest. He’s been hovering right around starting stack and appears to claim slightly more than that at this juncture.

Championship: POY David Prociak Eliminated

$1,650 WPO Championship (Re-Entry)
Level 8: 300/600 with a 75 ante
Entries: 106

David Prociak

Reigning Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year David Prociak was recently eliminated by Winter Poker Open prelim winner Manny Minaya.

Picking up the action on a board of Ad7h4h5d, Minaya checked to Prociak. Prociak bet 3,000. Minaya raised to 9,200 and Prociak called.

The river fell the Qh and Minaya, who had Prociak covered, open-shoved. Prociak called off and Minaya turned over 8h6d for a straight. Prociak mucked his cards and stood from the table, eliminated.

Championship: Breyfogle Trending Up

$1,650 WPO Championship (Re-Entry)
Level 8: 300/600 with a 75 ante
Entries: 104

Todd Breyfogle

Minnesota’s Todd Breyfogle needed little excuse to make the trek south to Seminole Hard Rock Tampa for the Winter Poker Open (see Tweet below). He arrived yesterday, played some cash and is now taking his shot in the $1,650 Championship. So far the trip has paid off for Breyfogle who’s more than doubled up in the first six hours of play.

Championship: A Better Start for Conrad

$1,650 WPO Championship (Re-Entry)
Level 7: 250/500 with a 75 ante
Entries: 103

Chris Conrad

Chris Conrad is on his second entry in this Championship and yet again drew the seat next to friend and travelmate Russ Head. Entry number two is proving to be a bit better for Conrad as he recently doubled after calling off his chips in a heads up pot.

The board was 5h4s3s8h and Conrad was under the gun. The button player moved all in having Conrad covered. After some thought, Conrad called.

Conrad: TsTc for an overpair
Button player: 6s5s fair a pair plus straight and flush draws

River: 8h

The opponent missed his slew of outs and Conrad’s tens held. He double up to about 47,000.
