$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 3: 75/150 with a 25 ante Entries: 50
Josias Santos
Josias Santos is quietly becoming of the steadiest of tournament players at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa. His first cash at the property came in 2014, but he’s recorded numerous in the year’s since. Most recently, Santos finished fourth in this June’s WPTDeepStacks-Tampa $350 for almost $19,000. Of course, that was overshadowed in recent days by his victory in Event 3 of the Winter Poker Open. He defeated 184 entries in the $150 Turbo to earn $4,749 following a heads-up deal.
Santos is back in action in today’s $570 and looks to repeat the feat.
Tony March is a regular in the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa room and he’s becoming a regular at Table 31 Seat 2 as well.
Yesterday, March maneuvered through a tough, 508-entry field and graced the final table in the $150 Deep Stack. March got a bit lucky when he was back against the ropes only to see the board read a straight for a chopped pot, but his good fortune stopped there. He went on to exit eighth earning $1,690.
The $150 final table played out on Table 31 and the draw saw March sitting in Seat 2. Now, about 12 hours later, Table 31 is in the rotation for Flight A of the $570 and March drew — you guessed it — Table 31 Seat 2.
We’ll keep an eye on March’s progress in the event.

E.J. McVetty, Event 6 Champion
Three Winter Poker Open trophies were awarded on Day 7 with the third coming in the wee hours of the Thursday morning. Event 6 began at 6pm on Wednesday and nearly 11 hours later it was E.J. McVetty taking top honors.
The evening tournament drew exactly 90 entries into the $250 Big Stack No Limit Hold’em event to create a prize pool of $17,250. Clear past the $15,000 guarantee and the last nine players earned a piece.
The tournament moved along at a nice clip thanks to the 25-minute blinds but the big starting stacks gave them a lot of room to make moves. It took them more than eight hours to work their way down towards the final table where Michael DeMahy brought a huge chip lead.
They felt each other out for an hour before the floodgates opened with eliminations. McVetty almost became one of them when he lost a huge pot to Roseli Godbey to leave him with crumbs and seven player remaining. He ran his few big blinds back, mostly thanks to a timely two outer against Michael DeMahy, and he ran over the table once he took the lead.
Godbey laddered up her short stack to third place when she was sent to the payout desk. McVetty and DeMahy worked out a deal to evenly divide the remaining prize pool leaving the $1,650 WPO Championship to McVetty and his big chip lead.
Event 6 results:
1st: E.J. McVetty $4,657 + $1,650 Championship seat 2nd: Michael DeMahy – $4,656 3rd: Roseli Godbey – $2,070 4th: Alan Phillips – $1,553 5th: David Kolaskey – $1,208 6th: Anthony Swedberg – $1,035 7th: Wayne Brown – $863 8th: Kent Dokendorf – $690 9th: Joseph Abdo – $518
$250 Big Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 22: 8,000/16,000 with a 2,000 ante
E.J. McVetty
After Roseli Godbey was eliminated, the E.J McVetty and Michael DeMahy quickly worked out a deal to chop up the remaining prize pool. McVetty held the vast majority of chips and they split the money down the middle with McVetty taking the WPO Championship seat as the champion.
$250 Big Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 22: 8,000/16,000 with a 2,000 ante Players Remaining: 2 of 90
E.J. McVetty opened to 50,000, Michael DeMahy called from the small blind, and Roseli Godbey moved all-in for 54,000 total. Both players called then checked down the board and hands were tabled.
McVetty: DeMahy: Godbey:
Godbey never improved and the river king sent the pot to McVetty.
$250 Big Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 22: 8,000/16,000 with a 2,000 ante Players Remaining: 5 of 90
Anthony Swedberg
Anthony Swedberg was down to only 21,000 and put them in the middle from the cutoff. Alan Phillips raised it up from the small blind to get a fold from the big.
Phillips: Swedberg:
The board ran out and Phillips’ eight played to send Swedberg out in sixth place.
Alan Phillips – 260,000 (16 bb) Anthony Swedberg – Eliminated in 6th place ($1,035)
