Jeffrey Nemes topped the field in the Senior Event tonight to take home the WPT Trophy along with the top prize worth $20,383 after a three-way chop to end play. Here is what he had to say after the victory tonight.
“This was a grind, but because I’m in my late 50s I guess I can only play in Seniors events (laughs), that’s what I’ve been telling everybody. It was great players tonight, card dead all day, but I held out. But when I got to the final table I couldn’t miss, and it worked out in my favor. That’s exactly how it went,” said Nemes.
“My wife is my poker coach, we live, eat, and breath poker, we play all the time, and we love the game. We will back in a couple days,” said Nemes about his supportive rail bird during the late stages of the tournament.
“We play at all the Hard Rock properties, we mostly go to Fort Lauderdale because it’s closer, but they treat us very well here, we had a great room, and the improvements that they’ve made at the property are great. But I have to say that the tournament staff and floor staff here are outstanding. The dealers are great, not one problem, they know the rules, they keep a tight ship, and that’s what makes the game a pleasure, the staff handles it,” said the Naples, FL resident Nemes about his tournament experience a little north of home up here in Tampa.
