The 2016 Fall Deep Stack Poker Series took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa beginning Thursday, October 20th and concluding Sunday, October 30th. The six-event festival was headlined by $150, $350 and $570 multi-flight tournaments. The $350 opener drew 638 entries and was won by Tom Nguyen while the $150 prelim drew 421 entries and saw Dillon Burns earn its top prize.
Besting a field of 506 entries in the series’ $570 buy-in, $200,000 guaranteed Deep Stack Main Event was Alexandru Ivan. Ivan, who pocketed $49,203 following a heads-up chop with Amie Martini, is 34 years old and resides in nearby Palm Harbor. The win marks the fourth of his career and moves him over $100,000 in reported earnings.
Recognized as Event 6 on the schedule, the $570 buy-in tournament marked the Main Event of 11-day series. It drew an impressive field including the likes of Seminole Hard Rock Tampa pros John Racener and Justin Zaki, 2010 November Niner John Dolan, tournament regular Allen Kessler and professional poker player and wine maker Brian Reinert. In the end, the event shattered its $200,000 guarantee to the tune of a $253,000 prize pool.
