Gianna Puerini raised from middle position to 3,000, the player on the button went all in for about 40,000, and Puerini called with 10s10d. The button turned over 2d2c, and he needed to improve to stay alive.

At another table, a player min-raised from UTG+1, Matthew Kern called from middle position, and the player on the button moved all in for 21,000. Both players called, and any additional betting would create a side pot.

Both players checked to the river on a board of 9s9d6h5sKh. The UTG+1 player checked, Kern bet about 12,000, and the UTG+1 player folded.

The all-in player on the button showed AhKs for two pair, kings and nines, but Kern turned over 8h7h to win the pot and eliminate his opponent from the tournament.

Matthew Kern  –  160,000  (53 bb)

With about 180 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 119,000 (40 big blinds). This is the last level of the night, and action should end around 10:45 pm.

Blair Miller  –  111,000  (69 bb)
Jason Young  –  109,000  (68 bb)

The next hand, Zhen Cai got it all in from UTG+1 for 26,800 with JsJc, and he needed his hand to hold to stay alive against Jason Young’s 8d8c in the big blind.

There is a three-way preflop all-in situation involving a big stack in middle position, Richard Rice (UTG+1 with 126,100), and Jake Dollinger (small blind, ~17,000).

These were their cards in descending order of chip counts:

Middle Position:  9s9h
Richard Rice:  AsKs
Jake Dollinger:  Ah5c

The board came 7d3c2cKc10d. Dollinger flopped a gutshot straight draw and turned a club flush draw, but he improved no further. Rice paired his king on the turn to scoop the entire pot, doubling up thru the big stack and eliminating Dollinger.

Richard Rice  –  271,000  (271 bb)
Jake Dollinger  –  Eliminated

Notable local player Andra Zachow won her seat into this event in one of yesterday’s satellites, but her day came to an end after the dinner break when she got it all in after the flop with an ace-high diamond flush draw against a player who had flopped a pair of kings.

Unfortunately, the turn and river brought no aces and no diamonds, and Zachow was eliminated. Her husband Mark Winchell will have to carry the torch for the family for the rest of the day, as he is still in the field.

Andra Zachow  –  Eliminated

The Day 1B field is up to 676 entries (total field is up to 1,126), with registration open until 8:45 pm.
