Prize Pool: $7,210
December 12, 2016

Manny Minaya, Event 10 Champion

While Event 9 was playing down to its final table, the other tournament in the room was awarding money from the beginning of the event. Event 10 put a $50 bounty on each player’s head and local favorite Manny Minaya conquered them all to win his second career Seminole Hard Rock Tampa title.

The tournament drew 103 entries to beat the $10,000 guaranteed prize pool by a clear shot and they put $7,210 in the regular prize pool plus more than $5,000 in player bounties.

The tournament was full of recognizable players including defending champion Jami Cvek, Herbert Woodbery, and Seminole Hard Rock Tampa ambassador Wally Maddah. But it was other regulars making the final table like Matt Silva, Karl Manouchakian, Scott “Twitch” Anderson, Brandon Byars, and former WPO champ Eric Wert.

The final table was deep and played at a steady pace until the blinds began catching up. Seminole Hard Rock Tampa staple Manny Minaya held the chip lead through most of the final table and took home the trophy after chopping up the remaining prize pool three ways.

Event 10 results:

1st: Manny Minaya – $1,558

Manny Minaya

After David Hendry was eliminated, the three remaining players were relatively equal and decided to split the rest of the prize pool right down the middle. Manny Minaya took the final hand for the chip lead and Event 10 honors.

Full report to come.

1st: Manny Minaya – $1,558
2nd: Brandon Byars – $1,557
3rd: Scott Anderson – $1,557

Event 10: David Hendry – 4th Place ($649)

$150 Double Green Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 21: 6,000/12,000 with 2,000 ante
Players Remaining: 3 of 103

David Hendry

Manny Minaya opened to 26,000 from the button, Brandon Byars called in the small blind, and David Hendry checked his option.

All three checked the 9c6h4h and Byars bet 45,000 after the 3c turn. Hendry moved all-in for less and Minaya called. The two live players checked down the qd river and Byars turned over acqc to top Hendry’s kstc.

The hand sent Hendry out in fourth place and handed Byars another $50 bounty.

Brandon Byars – 440,000 (37 bb)
David Hendry – Eliminated in 4th place ($649)

Event 10: Brian Mirras – 5th Place ($483)

$150 Double Green Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 19: 4,000/8,000 with 1,000 ante
Players Remaining: 4 of 103

Brian Mirras

Brian Mirras caught a double up earlier on the final table, getting it all-in from the big blind after a button raise from Brandon Byars. A few orbits later, Byars again open/raised the button to 24,000 and Mirras moved all-in for 66,000. Byars though a bit before calling to put Mirras at risk.

Byars: ad5s
Mirras: kcjs

Mirras moved ahead on the jd9d5c flop but Byars picked up a flush draw on the qd turn. The kd river filled the flush to send Mirras out of the tournament in fifth place.

Brandon Byars – 295,000 (37 bb)
Brian Mirras – Eliminated in 5th place ($483)

Event 10: Sean McCleary – 6th Place ($375)

$150 Double Green Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 18: 3,000/6,000 with 1,000 ante
Players Remaining: 5 of 103

Sean McCleary

Sean McCleary was all-in for his final ~80,000 and Scott “Twitch” Anderson went for the $50 bounty.

Anderson: 8c8d
McCleary: adqd

Anderson asked the dealer for an eight or lower and was rewarded with a set on the jd8s2s flop. McCleary was drawing thin and the 4s turn left him drawing dead to sixth place.

Scott “Twitch” Anderson – 195,000 (33 bb)
Sean McCleary – Eliminated in 6th place ($375)

Event 10: David Kolaskey – 7th Place ($288)

$150 Double Green Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 18: 3,000/6,000 with 1,000 ante
Players Remaining: 6 of 103

David Kolaskey

Scott “Twitch” Anderson limped under the gun, David Kolaskey moved all-in for 48,000 next to act, and Manny Minaya three-bet to 150,000. Anderson released his hand and they were heads up.

Minaya: ahkd
Kolaskey: ad2d

Kolaskey was dominated and nothing on the 8d7h6sthjc board changed his fate to go out in seventh place.

Manny Minaya – 560,000 (93 bb)
David Kolaskey – Eliminated in 7th place ($288)

Event 10: Karl Manouchakian – 8th Place ($231)

$150 Double Green Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 16: 2,000/4,000 with 500 ante
Players Remaining: 7 of 103

Karl Manouchakian

SHRP Tampa regular Karl Manouchakian put his chips in good at the final table but had to dodge the two live cards of chip leader Manny Minaya.

Minaya: qs9h
Manouchakian: kc4c

The qc7s3s flop was clean for Manouchakian but the 9d was bad news. He needed to catch one of the three remaining kings but missed the 5d river to hit the payout desk in eighth place.

Manny Minaya – 420,000 (105 bb)
Karl Manouchakian – Eliminated in 8th place ($231)

Event 10: Eric Wert – 9th Place ($195)

$150 Double Green Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)
Level 15: 1,500/3,000 with 500 ante

Eric Wert

Former WPO champ Eric Wert open/shoved for 29,000 and Scott “Twitch” Anderson moved all-in over the top from the small blind to isolate.

Anderson: adks
Wert: ah4h

It was a good jsts4s flop for Wert but Anderson came right back on the kc turn. Wert blanked the 9h river and he was sent out in ninth place.

Scott “Twitch” Anderson – 180,000 (60 bb)
Eric Wert – Eliminated in 9th place ($195)

Event 10: Scott Caracciolo Gets Two

$150 Double Green Chip Bounty NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 4: 100/200 with 25 ante
Entries: 72

Scott Caracciolo

Scott Caracciolo knows a little about success in the Double Green Chip Bounty event, he was part of a three-way even-split of this tournament during last year’s Winter Poker Open. And he’s on the right track against today and practically freerolling.

We caught the action at the end as Caracciolo was raking in a lot of chips with trip jacks and the dealer announcing two bounties. He sent two players to the rail earning $100 in casino chips and moved his stack up to 25,000.

Caracciolo added another $3,000 to his bankroll last night when he finished 14th in the multi-day $570 Deep Stack Event 7.

Event 10: The Luck of Byars

$150 Double Green Chip Bounty NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 3: 75/150 with 25 ante
Entries: 64

Brandon Byars

We’ve witnessed Tampa regular Brandon Byars running deep in tournaments for some big scores including a run to the last two tables in the big-field opening WPO event and a Spring Little Slick Series Main Event win in April.

But we’ve also seen him flop some big hands that would get run down or out flopped. The latest came in the early stages of the Bounty Event when he flopped a set with 5h5d on the 6d5d4c board. However, his opponent hit better with 3s2h. Byars added some chop outs on the 7c turn but had to ship some chips after the jd river.

Byars is still sitting with 8,000 of his 12,000 starting stack so plenty of time to run it up.

Event 10: Climbing Towards the Guarantee

$150 Double Green Chip Bounty NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 50/100
Entries: 56

Mark “Bud” Wiser

The entrant count continues to move higher as Event 10 rolls through the second level of the day and the 56 entries put them on pace to match last year’s tournament.

We’re seeing some familiar faces pop into play, some new today and some getting in the game after busting out of Event 9. Mark “Bud” Wiser is back at the table looking for his third deep run of the series. He earned back-to-back cashes in Events 3 and 4, both with final table appearance, and earned $5,338 for his third place finish in the multi-day $150 Event 3.

Event 10: Picking Up Bounties

$150 Double Green Chip Bounty NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)

The second tournament of the day is about to kick off in the poker room and reward players for getting the field smaller along the way. Event 10 has a $150 buy-in with a $50 bounty on every player’s head at the table. Knock someone out, get two green chips worth $50.

The tournament has a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool and should be an entertaining way to spend a Monday evening at the tables.

Players start with 12,000 stacks and the tournament runs 25-minute levels from start to finish. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 around 9:50pm and unlimited re-entries are available during that time.
