Event 7: Joe Boulais – 9th Place ($5,992)

$560 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 24: 20,000/40,000/5,000 Ante

Joseph Boulas (Cocoa, FL)
Joseph Boulais (Cocoa, FL)

It didn’t take long to light the final table fireworks. Joe Boulias ran into back-to-back hands that elevated, then crushed, his day.

One of the first hands at the final table saw Boulais and Alexander Beece mix it up with the board reading Js8h2sAd. Boulais put Beece all-in, he called with AsKd and needed to dodge Boulais’ flush/gutshot draw KsQs. Boulais hit the river spade to push the big pot his way and knock Beece down under 400,000.

The very next hand saw Michael Laake open to 85,000 and Boulais three-bet to 185,000. The rest of the table let their hands go and Laake put Boulais all-in.

He got a quick call but Boulais was in trouble with QdQs against Laake’s AdAc. The KcJd2sJc9s provided no help and Boulais’ roller coaster day was complete.

That hand pushed Laake’s big lead into a huge lead with 6,350,000 of the 15,850,000 in play.

Event 7: Larry R. and Rafael Reis Eliminated; Nine Remain

$560 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 24: 20,000/40,000/5,000 Ante

Mike Laake (Punta Gorda, FL)
Final table chip leader Mike Laake

Michael Laake kicked things off busting Rafael Reis 11th when Laake’s 9h9d bested Reis Qh8h all in preflop. Simultaneously on a neighboring table, Joseph Boulais and Larry R. saw a Qs9s4c flop. R. got the last of his chips in holding Qd4s for two pair. He was best against the JsTd of Boulais, but needed to fade straight cards. The turn brought the 3s and the river completed his the straight with the Kd. With that, R. busted 10th and the remaining nine players consolidated to the final table.

Event 7: Castles for Mike Laake

Mike Laake (Punta Gorda, FL)
Mike Laake (Punta Gorda, FL)

Seminole Hard Rock Poker ambassador Mike Laake has been on a tear since bursting the bubble about three hours ago. Laake now holds 1,700,000 chips and is second only to chip leader Tom Nguyen. Nguyen is the only player whose stack is greater than 2,000,000.

The clock reads 33 players remaining.

Event 7: Puleo Busts Marczynski in Aces vs. Aces Battle

$560 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 19: 6,000/12,000/2,000 Ante

Ron Puleo and Jenny Marczynski got the last of Marczynski’s stack in the middle in what seemed to be a friendly, harmless aces versus aces battle. Puleo held AsAc and was matched against the AhAd of Marczynski.

All was well on a QsJd9s flop.

A Ks turn brought a third spade and improved Puleo to a flush draw. Honestly, though. He couldn’t hit a flush in this spot, could he?

Sure enough. The 5s reared its ugly head on the river and the table let out a collective groan.

“In the worst way,” Puleo empathized giving Marczynski hug.

Marczynski left the tables stunned. She busted 40th earning $1,388. Puleo now holds 900,000 chips.
