We have a fun group in the $700 DeepStack Challenge with 69 entries, and they are near surpassing the $50,000 guarantee. We have two hours remaining to register this flight but a whole other one tomorrow.
It might get there tonight but definitely early tomorrow if not.
Some friends in today’s field so far include David Moses, Gabe Fuller, Marsha Wolak, Ryah Hogan, Tarun Gulati, Terri-Anne Crawford, Marie Harrell, and Tony March.
Moses picked up a recent win in Hollywood during their Lucky Heart Poker Open and Hogan bookended two six-digit scores in their opening event and Championship. Fuller won last night’s Bankroll Builder and Gulati final-tabled Event 1.

Don Manns, 2025 WPO Event 1 Champion
The opening tournament on the 2025 Winter Poker Open schedule was a $400 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament with seven starting flights and a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool. After dominating the final table, Don Manns took the top spot and $66,163 after a three-way deal to end it.
Event 1 drew 1,397 entries over those seven starting flights, turning the $200,000 guarantee into a prize pool worth $461,010. We had 177 players bag chips for Day 2, which were all in the money.
The tournament quickly played down towards the final table, with John Dolan taking a late lead. That changed when they reached the last nine players and Manns took over—relaxed with a massage while he sent players out and built himself a big chip castle.
After Michael Isasi was eliminated in fourth place, the last three players paused the clock and negotiated a deal for the remaining money. Pratik Shah took third for $41,001 and Dolan earned $53,146 as the runner-up.
Manns took the biggest piece of the prize pool, earning $66,163 and the first WPO trophy of the series.
We had to get some Omaha on the WPO schedule to start the week and first up is Event 3 at 11 am in the Poker Room. It is a $400 buy-in Limit Omaha 8 tournament that will bring out our Omaha fans.
