Event 3: Kessler and Kelsall Making a Deep Run

AJ Kelsall

Allen Kessler and AJ Kelsall are two notables making a deep run in Event 3 at the 2023 SPS tournament series. Both players are mixed-game specialists that you can find playing in tournament series all over the country and poker calendar.

Kessler holds more than $4.3 million in tournament earnings, and you would be hard-pressed to find a tournament poker player who plays more events in a year than Kessler. He holds four World Series of Poker gold rings, and he has won close to 20 poker tournaments in his career.

Kelsall can often be found playing tournament series here in his hometown of Tampa, and he has a list of other poker accolades as well. He holds a WSOP gold bracelet along with three gold rings. Kelsall holds more than $3.2 million in career earnings.

The two players are right on the verge of the final table with 10 players remaining in the tournament.

The second break ended and players returned to their seats with registration closed for Event 3. The tournament clock shows an unofficial 103 entries for the Pot Limit Omaha 8 tournament, a fantastic turnout.

Mike “GasCard” Collins sits with the biggest stack in the field, and his his 218,000 is way ahead of the rest. But the nature of this game means anyone could catch him in a hurry.

More Omaha on the schedule today with Event 3 getting underway at noon in the Event Center. It is a Pot-Limit Omaha 8 tournament with a $400 buy-in and plenty of action on deck.

Players start with 25,000 in their stacks and all levels last 30 minutes for the one-day trophy event. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 4:30 pm. The 30-minute dinner break is scheduled at 6:30 pm and they’ll return to find our next SPS champ.
