Vinny Montiero

Vinny Monteiro claimed the first tournament trophy of the series tonight along with $13,135 thanks to a large chip lead when the final three players decided to chop at the conclusion of Event 2 at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa.

Here is a what Monteiro had to say a short time after his victory. “It feels good, this is my first trophy. This is the third time I’ve played in a PLO tournament live, and it’s my second final table, and this one I took it down. Now let’s go for the hold’em tournaments and see if we can take those down too.”

“I came from Hollywood, I live in Boca Raton, so I came with the family and we’re all going to stay here the whole week. I brought the wife, the kids, everybody. It’s going to be fun, I plan on staying until at least the Main Event,” said Monteiro when he was asked about his plans for the tournament series.

Monteiro took control of the final table with over half the chips in play during the later stages of the night. “There was a guy that was super big when we got to the final table, and I was able to capitalize on him since he we playing every hand. I was able to get most of his chips to my side, and then I was able to just pressure the table all the time, and that was it,” said Monteiro about his journey through the final table.

Wally Maddah

Wally Maddah got all in preflop for 14,000, and both John Travers (cutoff), and the big blind have him covered.

The two live players then checked the flop dealt Jh9d3c. The turn followed with the 6c, the big blind bet 15,000, and Travers called before the river delivered the 3d.

Travers moved all in, and the big blind called all in. Travers showed 8c7h6h6d, and that was enough to top the Ah9c6s2c held by the big blind, and the AsAcQc5c held by Maddah.

Travers took out both opponents with Maddah busting on the money bubble. Travers stacked up 137,000 after collecting the pot.

John Travers – 137,000 (27 bb)
