Carlos Rodriguez

Carlos Rodriguez won the top prize worth $55,085 and the WPT Trophy as the champion of Event 12 here in Tampa tonight as the results of a two-way chop against another Carlos with the last name Loving. Here is what Rodriguez had to say after the win.

“This my first WPT trophy, this is really a big thing for me. This is my second trophy overall, and my first one was at the Hard Rock in Hollywood. The field was tough, and this is a pretty complicated tournament because you have to grind and grind and grind,” said Rodriguez.

“At the final table when I could just play my game I’m known for chipping up very, very fast. I was very happy that the other Carlos and I ended heads-up. He’s a nice guy, he knows me, and I have respect for him, he’s a good player,” said Rodriguez when he was asked about his journey at the final table.

“Oh yes, I’m here for the rest of the series, the whole way through, I’m free running it (laughs). It’s very, very nice here, the food is good, and I always have a good time when I come here to Tampa. The Hard Rock in Hollywood is my home, my poker room, but whenever you go out you like to find something new,” said Rodriguez when he was asked about his plans for the tournament series.
