George Allen

Event 2 was the first multi-flight tournament on the 2022 Tampa Poker Classic schedule and the $400 buy-in tournament brought out the players. It had 1,463 entries over five starting flights and George Allen dominated late to win the title along with $63,071.

The tournament featured a big $200,000 guarantee that was smashed before we even reached the weekend flights. It was more than doubled and the prize pool reached $490,105 by the time registration closed.

We had 149 players bag up their chips for Day 2 returning in the money but one player was ahead of the game. With the best-stack-forward format, William Muniz advanced two bags to Day 2 and received a min-cash for the smaller stack while playing the bigger one.

Not content with two min-cashes, Muniz went deep into the tournament and finished in 14th place for another $5,160 payout.

The final table was deep and several players took turns with the chip lead including Juan Rodriguez and Ivan Yatsuk in addition to Allen. But Allen was the player who put a stamp on the late as he knocked out player after player.

When he eliminated Gabriel Garcia in fifth place, Allen held nearly half of the chips in play and the four remaining players quickly came to an agreement to divide up the remaining prize pool.

Allen earned $63,071 for the effort, the biggest cash of his career by a lot. Rodriguez, Yatsuk, and Thomas McDonald split their money right down the middle while Allen walked away with the big money along with the TPC trophy.

Congrats to George and thank you to all of our players for the fantastic turnout to start the Tampa Poker Classic series.
