Event 12 was the last warmup before the Tampa Poker Classic Championship and it produced a fantastic field and final table. Brett Apter had a huge deficit heads-up but defeated Hunter Cichy to take the top prize of $67,330 for the title.

The tournament drew 106 entries to more than double the $100,000 into a prize pool worth $212,000. The last 11 players made the money and the final table nine advanced to Day 2.

The tournament came down to two top players in Apter and Cichy. The two pros battled for hours until Apter erased Cichy’s lead and won the tournament on a huge coin flip.

Cichy earned $41,610 for his runner-up finish while Apter cashed out for $67,330 and added the TPC trophy to his collection.

After a long final table and heads-up match, Brett Apter came back from a short stack to defeat Hunter Cichy for the TPC Event12 title. It came down to Apter’s AsKs winning a flip against Cichy’s pocket fives for the last hand of the tournament and locking up the win.

Cichy earned $41,610 for his runner-up finish while Apter took home $67,330 and some momentum going into Flight B of the Championship tomorrow.
