Jacob Ferro

The Flight C field hit 200 entries in Level 3 and on its way to a big day. They won’t hit a $1,000,000 prize pool before the first break but it won’t take long after.

We ran into two players in the field who are fresh off big runs in Hollywood. Their WPT RRPO Championship drew a record 1,566 entries with Willie Wiggins finished seventh and Jacob Ferro locked up a big runner-up finish.

Both are back today trying to make another deep Main Event run.

The big day continued into the afternoon hours with 170 entries getting the prize pool closer to $1,000,000.

We have plenty of visitors in town for the Main Event but they will have to get by our locals to get the title. A few of our regulars in the field include Mark Wiser, Jeremy Becker, Manny Minaya, and Brandon Byars going for his fourth final (and second win) of the series.

“The House That Tommy Built” – welcome back to Tommy Bates, former Director of Poker Operations for Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa. While in that role, he was instrumental in creating the room players are in right now with 46 tables, plenty of TVs, and the 24-hour lounge area.

Bates is back but this time as a player in the Winter Poker Open Main Event.

Main Event Day 1B: Tony Miles Bags the Biggest

$1,700 WPO Main Event (Re-Entry)
$500,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 14:  3,000/5,000 with a 5,000 ante
Day 1B Players Remaining:  32 of 240

Tony Miles

Tournament staff ended play a little earlier this evening when the field reached 32 players. Day 2 will now return to Level 14 with 29:48 remaining near the money.

Tony Miles stuck around with a nice stack most of the day but spun it up late to bag the biggest with 670,000. That is good enough for the biggest overall coming back for Day 2 followed by Maurice Hawkins with 633,000.

We will post the complete chip counts as soon as they are available.

Main Event Day 1B: Back from Break

Level 13:  2,000/4,000 with a 4,000 ante
Day 1B Players Remaining:  45 of 240

Sean Miller

The final break has come and gone and players returned to their seats to run through the last two levels of the night.

No one is running away with the chip lead right now. No one is over 400K with Maurice Hawkins and Juan Carlos Ramirez looking like the two biggest (now seated right next to each other).

Sean Miller isn’t a leader but his 240,000 put him firmly in contention to spin it up. He’s coming off a win in the $1,100 Event 9 so he’s on a heater.

Main Event Day 1B: Seven Tables Remain

$1,700 WPO Main Event (Re-Entry)
$500,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 12:  1,500/3,000 with a 3,000 ante
Day 1B Players Remaining:  53 of 240

Flight B is creeping lower even as the Poker Room fills. Each time we break a table in the Main Event, it is quickly filled in by a cash game or the ongoing Main Event satellite with nearly 100 entries of its own.

Players will make their way through Level 12, take one last break, and return to play two more levels before bagging.
