Jean Laurent

The 2021 Tampa Winter Poker Open has its share of non-hold’em games on the schedule and we ran one on the first day of the series. Event 2 was a $300 Limit Omaha 8 tournament and the winner, Jean Laurent, was a familiar face to this game.

A little over a month ago, there was another Limit Omaha 8 tournament during our Pinktober Poker Open series and it was Laurent taking that one down as well. So this makes it his second title in this variant in consecutive series.

The tournament drew a very nice 97 entries for the game that requires a unique set of skills. Laurent had to dodge some tough spots in the tournament including Anthony Askey and six-time WSOP Circuit champ John Holley.

The last four players at the final table decided to call it a night and made a deal to split the remaining prize money. With Laurent holding the chip lead, he earned the top prize of $5,913 and another Limit Omaha 8 title.
