The entry count clicked up with two new tough opponents in today’s field. Phil and Loni Hui make a formidable couple of spots in the tournament, one of the most successful poker power couples in the game.

Combined they have four WSOP bracelets, nine WSOP Circuit rings, five major SHR poker titles, and $6.45 million in career earnings.

The second break is complete and players are back in their seats to play three more levels before the dinner break.

We have a new leader in the room. Francis Ryan is up to 138,200 to lead the field with Ken O’Donnell less than a gray chip behind holding 133,900.

Main Event Day 1A: Jacob Ferro Back for More

$500,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 6:  400/800 with a 800 ante
Day 1A Entries:  140

Jacob Ferro

Jacob Ferro was in a seat for the first hand of the day, that’s not very common for a lot of players these days. But he was here and ready to go.

Ferro is a regular in the room for most of our tournaments with some nice results including back-to-back Double Stack wins in January. But he hit some really top scores after that starting with a March six-digit cash in Jacksonville. Then the big one came last week for Ferro when he finished second in the WPT RRPO Championship in Hollywood. Two runs for nearly $700K, that’s a good year.

Main Event Day 1A: Tony March Moving Up

Day 1A Entries:  133

Tony March

Tampa favorite Tony March is in the field today and already moving his stack in the right direction. He grew his 30K starting stack up to 75,500 and looking for another deep run.

March already has two final tables this series including a $7K six-place finish in yesterday’s $1,100 One-Day Challenge.

We are up to 125 on the entry count as players slide into their seats (or unfortunately take up a new seat if needed) and nearing $200K of the $500,000 for the guarantee.

A few familiar faces in early action we found today include Ken O’Donnell, Kevin Blewitt, Manny Minaya, and David Moses.

Matthew Romero

Players returned to their seats and cards are back in the air with 112 entries on the board. They will play through three more levels before they can take another breather.

Matthew Romero is the lead Main Event leader. While most stacks are hovering near where they started, he is up to 98,500 after two hours of play.

Main Event Day 1A: More Winners

$1,700 WPO Main Event (Re-Entry)
$500,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 3:  200/400 with a 400 ante
Day 1A Entries:  92

Stephen Brite

There are 92 entries and counting so far today to put $140,000 towards the $500,000 already for the Main Event. It’s looking pretty good so far.

Two more Tampa champs were found in early action. Stephen Brite won the $1,100 Six-Max PLO in June when we hosted the World Poker Tour and David DiBernadi won his second WSOP Circuit ring when we hosted their tour in 2020.

DiBernardi also accomplished a rare feat with that win. He is one of a tiny group of players to win a major tournament at three of our Seminole properties. He owns two Poker Showdown trophies from Hollywood and he earned his first WSOP Circuit ring in Coconut Creek.

Thomas Elder

Blinds are up in the WPO Main Event and the count is clicking closer to triple digits. A nice turnout as players wake up and make their way to the poker room.

We found another owner of a guitar trophy in the field today. We ran our first ever September Super Stacks series a few months ago and Thomas Elder took top prize in that Main Event after defeating Nick Palma heads-up for the win.
