Level 9:  500/1,000 with a 1,000 ante
Entries:  301 (Total: 501)

Level 9 came to an end and tournament staff sent Flight B players on their 90-minute dinner break shortly after the field reach 300 entries. Registration and re-entries will close when they return at 7 pm and we’ll be set up to see what happens tomorrow in the final flight.

Main Event Day 1B: Nick Yunis Eliminated by Tony March

$1,700 TPC Main Event (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 9:  500/1,000 with a 1,000 ante
Entries:  295 (Total: 405)

Nick Yunis

Byron Kaverman opened to 2,000 from the cutoff and Tony March called on the button. Nick Yunis three-bet to 10,000 from the big blind leaving only 500 behind to get a fold from Kaverman and call from March.

The flop came QhQd7c, Yunis dropped his last 500 chip in the middle, and March called.

March: KhJh
Yunis: 2s2d

Yunis was ahead with his deuces but the Kc turn put March out front. The 3s river sent the pot to March and Chile’s top player was left looking for another entry.

Tony March – 85,000

Main Event Day 1B: Naumann Up; Teitelbaum Down

Level 7:  300/600 with a 600 ante

Jacob Naumann

The second break is complete and Jacob Naumann seems to be our latest to build up a big stack in the Main Event. The former WPO trophy winner is up to 119,700 and it looks like most of that came from former leader Evan Teitelbaum who is down to only 45,000.

Flight B is set to play three more levels before taking their 90-minute dinner break at 5:30 pm and closing registration at 7 pm.

Steve Trizis

No waiting and no worries all day as our players have now pushed the Main Event prize pool over $700,000. A million-dollar prize pool is now a virtual lock with a little effort over the next two days.

More familiar faces are taking their Main Event shot today including poker favorite (and local restaurant owner) Steve Trizis, Michael Tait, Jacob Naumann, and Peter Walsworth.

We expect more of our friends to show up between now and registration close at 7 pm with even more for the Saturday flight.

Level 5:  200/400 with a 400 ante
Entries:  230 (Total: 430)

Byron Kaverman

Restarting tournament poker in Florida and leading the way for most of the poker world, we’re tending to see a lot of new faces in the fields and we found a top name in the game this afternoon.

Byron Kaverman grabbed his seat in the TPC Main Event and boasts the biggest résumé in the field. The high roller specialist has $15.6 million in career earnings, two seven-digit cashes, and dozens of payouts of $100K or bigger. Kaverman picked up a WSOP bracelet with a win 2015 $10K WSOP Six-Handed Championship and took home an even $2,000,000 for a fifth-place finish in the 2018 WSOP Big One for One Drop.

Main Event Day 1B: Evan Teitelbaum Big Stacked Early

$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 4:  200/300 with a 200 ante
Entries:  221 (Total: 421)

Evan Teitelbaum

Players returned to their seats after the first break and it looks like everyone is chasing Evan Teitelbaum after three levels. The former Hollywood champ made the cross-state trip and ran his stack up to 129,700 in a short amount of time.

The Main Event prize pool jumped over $650,000 before the break with registration open until 7 pm.

Main Event Day 1B: First Break

$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 3:  100/200 with a 200 ante
Entries:  209 (Total: 409)

Three levels are in the books today and tournament staff sent Flight B players on their first break of the day. The field topped 200 before they left to more than double up the $300,000 guaranteed prize pool with more players buying in during the break.

Main Event Day 1B: Mash for More

$1,700 TPC Main Event (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 3:  100/200 with a 200 ante
Entries:  184 (Total: 384)

Howard Mash

The entry count is moving up towards yesterday’s number of 200 and it will slide past it before too long. Flight B is on pace to put another 300 in the game and a path to a $1,000,000 prize pool.

Howard Mash is with us after making a trek across the state. He’s coming off a runner-up finish in the Hollywood Escalator Event 1 and looking for his first Tampa title. Mash owns two trophies from our sister property in Coconut Creek, a back-to-back run in 2015, and he also owns a WSOP bracelet after winning the WSOP Seniors event in 2019.

Main Event Day 1B: Numbers Climbing

$1,700 TPC Main Event (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 2:  100/100 with a 100 ante
Entries:  150 (Total: 350)

Tony March

Day 1B is cruising right along with a steady stream of new entries pushing the combined total up to 350 and the prize pool is already over $500,000.

Tony March is a new addition to the field and one of our favorites. The philanthropic grinder is known for his skills and the fact that he donates 100% of his tournament cash to his Pay It Backward charity foundation.

That was evident here in December 2019 when March won the $360 multi-day event during the Winter Poker Open. He chopped evenly with AJ Kelsall for nearly $45,851 and put that number on a big ol’ check.
