Level 8: 400/800 with a 800 ante
Flight A Entries: 104

Tara Schwartz

As the clock was running down on Level 8 and the second break neared, Tara Schwartz went big. With the flop reading Ac8d6h, there were two all-ins ahead of her, including Wayne Daley, and she called all in from the button for a massive pot.

Schwartz: 8s8h
Daley: Ad3d
EP: 6s6c

Schwartz caught set-over-set-over-top pair and it held after the Qs turn and 7c. She is up to 130,000 in early action with registration closing after the break.

WPTDeepStacks Main Event Win-a-Seat Winner

For each of our major series, we run a random drawing to award a free seat into the Main Event/Championship. A way to thank our fans, regulars, and those who follow Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Poker.

The virtual wheel spun and it landed on Robert Wilson of Palm Bay, Florida. Robert won his seat into the $500,000 Guarantee WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event kicking off on June 13 and we look forward to watching him make his way through the field.

Keep an eye right here for our next Win-a-Seat contest for the Winter Poker Open Championship!

Event 1 Flight A: Cooler for Joseph Orsino

$360 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$250,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 6: 300/500 with a 500 ante
Flight A Entries: 99

Joseph Orsino

Joseph Orsino ran into a bit of a problem with his first bullet in Event 1. The Tampa regular had an opponent five-bet shove into him for 24,300 and it was a cooler.

Orsino had KsKh but he was dominated by AsAh and nothing on the Qd6c3hJd6s board could keep him from shipping most of his stack across the table. He was left with only a few chips and went out not long after.

Event 2: Four-Card Poker

$360 Limit Omaha 8 (Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 1: 100/200 Limits

The WPTDeepStacks Tampa series kicked off with Event 1 this morning but that tournament will not award the first guitar trophy of the series. That honor will go to the winner of Event 2 later this evening.

The first one-day trophy event starts at 2pm in the Poker Room and it is a $360 buy-in Limit Omaha 8 tournament. Tampa loves its Omaha games.

They’ll sit down to 12,000 starting stacks and all levels will run 30 minutes. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 around 6:30pm with a 30-minute dinner break scheduled after Level 11.

Cards will go in the air at the top of the hour and we’ll keep one eye on them as they progress through their day.

  • Players begin with 12,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • This is a one-day tournament and plays until completion

Event 1 Flight A: Back from First Break

$360 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$250,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 5: 200/400 with a 400 ante
Flight A Entries: 89

Flight A is back in action after the first break of the day and they are on the verge of crossing 90 entries. That’s a great turnout to start the series and puts the tournament on an easy path to the $250,000 Guarantee.

There are several big stacks in the room including the previously mentioned Jonta Mention. He sits with 59,500 for a near double starting stack and his good day continues.

Jonta Mention

Jonta Mention began his day with a bang. Way back in Level 1 we caught a hand with the Tampa regular when he sent the first player out of the series.

With the board reading Qc6s6hTh2s, Mention moved all in for his remaining 16,000 and picked up a call after a few moments. He tabled Ad6d for flopped trip sixes and cracked the KsKh of his opponent.

Mention has some nice results in this room including a final table finish in last week’s Wednesday $10K tournament.

Level 3: 100/200 with a 200 ante
Flight A Entries: 62

After a minor glitch on the clock, we have an updated count on the entries and it jumped quite a bit. We have 62 in the game so far for a great turnout on a Wednesday morning/afternoon. A nice chunk of those players just hit their seats after winning their way in via the 9am satellite.

John Alegria

Things are cruising right along in the Poker Room as we near the afternoon hours, the tables are filling and there are more than a few in line to get their seats.

Joh Alegria is back with us after a break from the game. The Tampa grinder has a handful of final table appearances including a ninth-place finish in this tournament during the 2017 WPTDeepStacks Tampa series.
