They will play three more levels before taking a dinner break after Level 14.

Level 9:  500/1,000 with a 1,000 ante

Andrew Boyer

There are two big stacks emerging from the crowd of Freeze-Outters. Andrew Boyer was the biggest at break with 119,200 but he added another 30,000 shortly after by sending out an opponent.

Former SHR Tampa Winter Poker Open winner Bryce McVay was second at the time with 112,600 and aiming for another guitar trophy.

Event 3: Tony March Back at It

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Freeze-Out)
Structure
Level 6:  300/500 with a 500 ante
Entries:  75

Tony March

Event 3 continued the climb higher after the break and aiming for a $40,000 prize pool. It will be tight without the re-entries but it’s a great turnout either way.

Tony March is back in the Poker Room only a few hours after becoming the Winter Poker Open Event 2 champ. The Tampa favorite cruised through that final table and won the tournament. March took the guitar trophy home but donated the entire $45,851 first-place prize to his Pay It Backward Foundation.

Event 3: Joshua Poe Leads

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Freeze-Out)
Structure
Level 5:  200/400 with a 400 ante
Entries:  69

Joshua Poe

The first break is complete with a couple more players jumping while they were gone. Event 3 will make its way through three more levels, plus a break, before registration closes.

Joshua Poe had the biggest stack on the break and his 81,700 means that someone else did not have a good time with their single entry. That’s a good start for Poe to set up for a deep run later.

Event 3: Field Growing

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Freeze-Out)
Structure
Level 2:  100/100 with a 100 ante
Entries:  42

Marvin “The Duckman” Karlins

The Freeze-Out field is growing and up to 42 entries after the first level. That’s a fine start to a Monday morning and a tournament that will not see any re-entries.

Marvin “The Duckman” Karlins was one of the first in the room and putting everyone on notice that he will be taking home the guitar trophy this evening. He’s already pulled out his handy duck call after a tablemate showed pocket deuces for a win.

Susan MacPherson was also in her seat at the start. She’s a familiar face in our big tournaments and she has the results to show for it. She has a handful of final tables and picked up her biggest score with a final table appearance at the 2016 Tampa Winter Poker Open Championship final table.
