The end was near and it was still a close race to see who would put together the biggest bag of the night.

Then Wayne Daley and Ian Casey mixed it up.

Casey three-bet shoved from the small blind for 102,000 and Daley did a double check of his cards before calling. Daley was in great shape with against and the board sent him the pot. He had a few more chips than Casey to send him out and take the lead.

That was moments before they paused the clock and played out the last four hands of the flight. Daley grabbed the lead and held it to put together 269,500 for a return tomorrow.

Flight C is down to the last level of the evening with 34 players remaining and we should lose a couple more before they bag up.

Oscar Lindo has a chance to hit back-to-back big final table. He made Day 2 of the $200,000 Guarantee opening event and made it to the final table where he earned just under $30,000 for fifth place in a six-way deal.

Time is running out for the remaining players in Flight C and they are down to the last four tables. There are still several players in contention for the chip lead and it will be a race over the last two levels.

We found Julio Fernandez still grinding away. He’s coming off a nice result a few weeks ago when he won more than $35,000 in the $570 Deep Stack event in Hollywood.

Three flights opened and closed their registration and it’s almost time to roll out the last one. The first three combined for 399 entries to surpass the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool and tonight they should top last year’s numbers.

They only need 114 to do that and last year’s Flight D drew a whopping 182 entries. It will be a busy night in the poker room.

As with the other flights, entrants will start out with 20,000 stacks and play 30-minute levels. Late registration and re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 around 10:30pm and they will continue through 14 levels.

Those who make it through will put their chips in a bag and return tomorrow at noon for Day 2.

The steady march to the last break continues and the field is down to five tables with three levels to go in the day.

Jordan Joeckel is still here and aiming to make another nice run. He does not sport a ton of results on his record but there are some big ones. Joeckel’s two top cashes came at our sister room in Hollywood with a runner-up finish in this winter’s LHPO $570 tournament and a 2016 SHRPO Big 4 fourth place finish in the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em event.

Tables continue to break at a steady pace and other players are emerging with big stacks. Wayne Daley is one and he’s sitting with a few chips over 110,000. It looks like some of them might have come from Ian Casey but he’s moving back in the right direction as well.

Daley has yet to win a SHR Tampa tournament but he came close a few months ago. He banked just under $9,000 for a runner-up finish in the March Triple 30 tournament.

The final accounting is complete for Flight C and the third of four starting sessions drew 149 entries. The number pushed the prize pool one entry shy of a $120,000 prize pool with eight levels of registration available in this evening’s final flight.

There was no change at the top of the counts other than the size of the stacks. Ok Haselton was the second break leader with 123,100 but Ian Casey was not far behind with 122,000.

Chris Ayers is the new contender in town and his 120,500 has him thinking about ending the day with the chip lead. Any cash here will be his first and it looks like he’s a regular in Maryland with 31 of the 33 records cashes coming from the Hanover room.
