Winter Poker Open Sunday Updates Conclude

That’s a wrap for Sunday’s Winter Poker Open tournament updates. The complete results and a winner’s photo from today’s 2pm $250 eight max will be posted in the morning. Main Event updates will resume at 2pm with the final table.

Richard Carr

Richard Carr is in pole position with nine left in the$1,650 buy-in Winter Poker Open. Carr bagged 4,250,000 chips on Day 2 and edges out James Peterson’s 4,115,000-chip stack just slightly. Others among the finalists include Tampa regulars Alex Ivan and Michael Turton as well as the reigning Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year Brett Bader.

Each player still in has locked up $19,023, but all eye the $180,205 score and guitar trophy reserved for 1st place.

Play resumes Monday at 2pm when they’ll play down to a champion. Here’s a look at the table draw with chip counts, remaining payouts and up-to-date results:

Richard Kane open-shoved the button for 470,000. Richard Carr called from the small blind while Brett Bader let go of the big. Kane was at risk against a lone opponent.

Carr won the pot in style flopping a set to bust Kane 11th.

Duff Charette

Duff Charette’s valiant run came to an end moments ago in 11th place. Earlier in the day — prior to the money bubble — he was down to less than two big blinds. From there, he found a way to grind out an 11th-place finish and $14,890 score.

Chris Greaves shoved 515,000 under the gun. It folded around to James Peterson in the big blind and he called. Greaves was at risk and behind.

Nashaat Antonious

Nashaat Antonious was under the gun and down to only 55,000. He put it in the middle and it folded to Michael McCarthy on the button. He raised to 110,000 and Duff Charette came along from the big blind. Antonious was at risk while McCarthy and Charette played it out for 110,000-chip side pot.

Flop: 8d5h2s – Charette checked. McCarthy C-bet 125,000. Charette folded. Antonious was at risk against McCarthy.

“I think you doubled up,” McCarthy laughed turning over Td9c for only 10-high.

Antonious had Ts5s and was ahead with a pair.

Turn and river: 9s9h

McCarthy hit a pair on the turn and trips on the river to take the lead and eliminate Antonious in 14th place. The elimination comes about eighth hours after Antonious burst the money bubble spiking an ace on the river and eliminating Sean Hampson in dramatic fashion.

Michael McCarthy and Duff Charette were heads up on a 4c3s2s board. McCarthy lead for 110,000 and Charette made it 250,000 to go. McCarthy verified the amount of the bet, then announced, “All-in.” Charette called off 800,000 total and was at risk.

Charette: KsJs for two over cards and a flush draw

Charette hit trips and took the land in the hand doubling through McCarthy. After being down to less than two big blinds short of the money, he now holds 1,800,000 with 15 players left.
