David DiBernardi

Dianaty paired his queen, but it wasn’t good enough. DiBernardi held to double up and then some while the small blind hit the rail.

Tuesday’s strong turnout recently pushed the $350 buy-in re-entry past the combined mark of 334 entries. That puts the total prize pool over $100,000 and officially bests the guarantee. Registration and re-entry are available in Flight C until about 4pm while Flight D is slated to kick off at 6pm.

Al Krux

Al Krux started the 2018 Winter Poker Open strong running up a top stack late in one of the opening flights in the $570/$300K. It wasn’t meant to be, though, as he ran his pair and a flush draw into the top set of fellow big stack Joseph Orsino. The pot was worth a pile of chips and the duo got it all in the middle. Krux bricked the turn and river and Orsino won the pot crossing 700,000 chips and taking a massive chip lead to Day 2.

Krux fell short there, but is rolling again in Flight C of this $350. He claims one of the largest stacks in the room with just under 80,000 late in Level 6.

Anthony Dianaty

Players are back in their seat following two-and-a-half hours, five levels of play and a 15-minute break. There are a number of stacks climbing the counts and one of the largest belongs to Tampa regular Anthony Dianaty.

Dianaty, who cashed 20th in the $570 opener, has tripled his holdings as he begins Level 6 with about 76,000 chips.
