Level 10: 500/1,000/100

David Lee

With the blinds climbing, players busting and tables breaking, it’s David Lee who’s rising to the top. At present, Lee sits on about 110,000 and is toward the top of the counts. Lots can happen with more than four more levels left in the day, but Lee is in good position to find an early WPTDeepStacks bag.

Here’s a look at the remaining tournament schedule:

Level 8 is off and running and it marks players’ final chance to get in on the Flight A action. The desk closes at roughly 3:30pm local time (following the break) and they’ll be locked out after that.

As of now, the clock shows 102 entries on pace to match or best last year’s opening figure.

Level 6: 200/400/50
Flight A Entries: 97

Lewis Gallo

The board was dealt through the turn: 9d8c4c3c

There was three-way action versus the small blind, Lewis Gallo in the big and Anthony Hobbs in late position. It checked to Hobbs who announce 3,000 before throwing in a 5,000 chips. The small blind folded and Gallo called.

River: 9d8c4c3c9s

Gallo checked again. Hobbs, who owned about 12,000 behind, bet 3,000 again. It was back on Gallo who promptly jammed just over 12,000. Hobbs hated the bet and thought out loud trying to put Gallo on a hand.

It took a minute or so before he called Gallo’s all-in and saw the bad news.

Gallo: 9h3d for a fullhouse
Hobbs: Kc5c for a king-high flush

After anteeing the next hand, Hobbs was left with just 50 chips. He busted shortly thereafter, but promptly hit registration and got back in with 20,000 chips.

Cards are freshly back in the air following the first break and it’s Bill McKown who leads the way. After his KhQh busted a short stack’s 8d7d on the first hand back, McKown sits at about 60,000 chips and has tripled up in the first ~two hours of play.

Level 3: 50/100/25
Flight A Entries: 80

Mark “Bud” Wiser

Mark “Bud” Wiser experienced some success in last year’s WPTDeepStacks Main Event ultimately finishing 17th for a score of $3,932. In the years since, he’s recorded 11 additional cashes at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa including a final table appearance in a $150 during last December’s Winter Poker Open.

After being down a bit early in today’s $570 Flight A, Wiser is back to about starting stack in Level 3. He recently played in a three-way raised pot. Following flop and turn action, it was heads up to the river. Wiser and his lone opponent checked it down and Wiser turned over the best of it with a rivered pair.

Event 1 Flight A: Joey Alegria Back on the Tournament Grind

$570 Buy-in No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure Sheet
Level 2: 50/100
Flight A Entries: 71

Joey Alegria

Joey Alegria is a regular in the new Seminole Hard Rock Tampa poker room. While the majority of his time is spent at the cash tables, he’s branched out into tournament play over the last year.

Alegria’s first reported cash came in August of 2016 during the property’s Summer Deep Stack series. His tournament career, young as it may be, is headlined by a $23,000 score in last December’s Winter Poker Open $570 as well as a $21,000 score in that series’ Championship.

With just south of $50,000 in earnings, Alegria has taken to the tournament scene. He’s been spotted at the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood and Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee during their major events and is back it again today in the WPTDeepStacks-Tampa opener.

Alegria sits on just over starting stack late in Level 2 and eyes another deep run.
