After 14 hours of play, the final ten players in this event decided to chop up the money and call it a day. Wally Maddah (Tampa, FL) gets the trophy as the final ten players chop evenly, each taking ~$3,556. Maddah says everyone was tired and happy to get a deal done.
Most notable among the final tableists was Darryal Watts (Charlotte, NC). He won Event 8, $250 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em and $8,884, so he already has his own signature Hard Rock guitar.
The penultimate main event of the inaugural Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Summer Poker Open series carried a $30,000 Guarantee and drew an impressive field of 204 entrants. The total prize pool came to $42,840 and was distributed to the final 27 players.
One of those cashing was Matt Ball (Boston, MA), who recently relocated to Florida. Ball got today’s entry as a Father’s Day gift from his wife Faye. He finished 27th for $386.
Wally Maddah is a retired businessman and now a full time poker pro for about two years. He’s planning to be back tomorrow 11 am for the final main event. “Its great to do what I love to do, play poker,” he says.
Maddah added, “I appreciate the new management and how they’re handling poker; the staff, the dealers, the tournament coverage, everything is great.”
