Tournament staff issued the rules to the players and put cards in the air to start a big Saturday in the poker room. This flight drew 214 entries last year and we should see similar numbers today.
We are rolling through the first weekend of the WPTDeepStacks series and you only have two chances remaining to get into the big opening event. The $570 buy-in tournament already cleared the $200,000 guaranteed prize pool and they will continue piling up the money until registration closes this evening.
The penultimate flight kicks off at the top of the hour and it should be a huge day in the poker room.
All Event 1 entrants sit down to a 20,000 starting stack and play 30-minute levels on Day 1. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30pm and they are scheduled to play 14 levels. Anyone still around will bag their chips and return tomorrow for Day 2.
Cards fly at 11am and it will be a fun day to grind.

With the big news of crushing the Event 1 guaranteed prize pool, your humble updates reporter is calling it a night to prepare for the huge turnout expected tomorrow. The last two flight run tomorrow and we should top the final numbers from this tournament last year.

With 90 seconds remaining before the first break of Flight D, we had entry number 99 join the game to officially meet the $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.
That’s a big number the will continue to climb with late registration open this evening until 10:30pm and two more flights tomorrow.

We thought Flight D might push the Event 1 prize pool over the $200,000 but it wasn’t a certainty before it kicked off. Now it’s all but a lock with only 15 more entries needed and registration open for more than three more hours.
Tampa regular Karl Manouchakian and he’s earned some hardware here. He has three tournament wins, all of them right here, and that includes an Event 3 win during the 2016 WPTDeepStacks Tampa series.

Action finished up for Flight C after a little flourish at the end dropped the field down to 17 players remaining. Thomas Hunnicutt was in contention for the overall lead but will have to settle for the end-of-flight lead. He put 250,000 in his bag which is good enough for second overall.
Also among those advancing were Mark “Bud” Wiser, Daniel “Soulja Boy” Castillo, Steve Trizis, and Anthony Berouty.

Flight D is quickly filling up the poker room and the 60 entries so far leaves the field less than 40 away from hitting the $200,000 Guarantee with two big flights still left to go tomorrow.
