James Calderaro

Peter Walsworth spent a few orbits picking up chips but is now sandwiched between two tough players. WSOP bracelet winner AJ Kelsall is on his left with WSOP/WPT champ James Calderaro on his right.

Not squishy opponents.

Calderaro wasted no time mixing it up and sent a player out when his AdJc held against Ah5h.

After the first break, we found a special friend in today’s field; defending champ Matthew Leecy joined Flight A and looking to go back-to-back. He captured the Pinktober Poker Open Championship last year for $111,240.

Leecy holds a unique record for our room. That PPO Championship win made him our first player to own two Championship/Main Event titles, adding that one to his 2019 Tampa Poker Classic Main Event win.

Nick Scholz

Pinktober Poker Open Event 3 was the last warmup tournament on the schedule before kicking off the Championship. It drew 256 entries to beat its $50,000 guarantee and Nick Scholz took the top spot with an outright win for $16,860.

Scholz began the final table among the leaders but dropped to less than five big blinds when they were three-handed. Former Tampa champ went out in third and Scholz was down 7-to-1 versus Alexander Grassia but came all the way back to capture the title.

Congrats Nick and good luck in the Championship!
