Ken Fishman

Ken Fishman won Event 3 tonight against a strong lineup at the final table that included Jacob Ferro, AJ Kelsall, and his heads-up opponent Aaron Thivyanathan. Fishman persevered to win the top prize money of $21,980 and the WPT trophy. Here is what he had to say after the tournament victory. “It feels great, really good to close one out,” said Fishman.

The final stages of the tournament saw a particularly long slowdown in play at the money bubble and during five-handed action. This is where Fishman dug deep to persevere. “I was just trying to hang in there and survive and wait for a good spot. I just tried to stay patient, it was a lot of trial and error you know for sure,” said Fishman.

“I’m a little tired, but I’m going to play another tournament tomorrow. I’m going to try for another trophy,” said Fishman when he was asked about his plans to celebrate the tournament win.

Fishman is a local regular here at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa, so he was happy to take home the win close to home. “Oh, I love it here, the competition is great, the food is good here, and I love to hang out with all my buddies here, all my friends,” said Fishman.

Vinny Monteiro claimed the first tournament trophy of the series tonight along with $13,135 thanks to a large chip lead when the final three players decided to chop at the conclusion of Event 2 at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa.

Here is a what Monteiro had to say a short time after his victory. “It feels good, this is my first trophy. This is the third time I’ve played in a PLO tournament live, and it’s my second final table, and this one I took it down. Now let’s go for the hold’em tournaments and see if we can take those down too.”

“I came from Hollywood, I live in Boca Raton, so I came with the family and we’re all going to stay here the whole week. I brought the wife, the kids, everybody. It’s going to be fun, I plan on staying until at least the Main Event,” said Monteiro when he was asked about his plans for the tournament series.

Monteiro took control of the final table with over half the chips in play during the later stages of the night. “There was a guy that was super big when we got to the final table, and I was able to capitalize on him since he we playing every hand. I was able to get most of his chips to my side, and then I was able to just pressure the table all the time, and that was it,” said Monteiro about his journey through the final table.
